Anyone have any old Solar Panels? Help Needed.

I’m away until the weekend, but if you want a cello tv I have one. I’ll check it’s working first it was when I took it out and I’ll donate a couple of gallons of derv for your running around

Thanks dulvil

I think he'll appreciate a TV more than anything (y)

Firstly, thank you all so much for your help. The generosity of members here never fails to astonish me (y)

I think this is what is already sorted:

1. MPPT
2. DVD's
3. EHU Charger
4. Sockets and Breakers
5. Fire Extinguishers
6. TV Antenna
7. TV (hopefully)
8. Leisure Batteries
9. Lots of small stuff

The bits I'm still trying to get are:

1. Solar Panels
2. Gas Heater

I already have all the parts needed to fit/mount everything into the gentleman's van.

I've also had a few offers of money towards the solar panels as these seem to be something that's difficult to get donated, but essential to making this man's van function. Thank you to those that have done this.

Mainly because actual cash is now involved, I'm going to post receipts for the panels in this thread once I have enough to order them. I'm also going to show ALL the parts installed in the van in a video. This will be a private video that can only be seen by following the link in this thread and will only be visible to people on Fun.

Once again, thank you all so much for helping this guy out. And if anyone can help with the remaining items that would be amazing.

All the best,
David

1) I have a DVD/TV with 12v and 240v power sockets. Probably needs the Z-style folding TV bracket which I also have.
2) I also inherited a stand alone gas heater (takes standard gas bottle in the cabinet at the back) - will need new regulator and pipe. Perhaps too big on floor space in his van? Doesn't it have a built in heater of any sort?
3) I can get Halfords HLB700 leisure batteries for £88 with trade card last time I checked, which I will contrbute half to?

Let me know.

Thanks Jev88 (y)

Might have the TV sorted, so can I get back you please?

Think you're right on the gas heater. His van is tiny. It does have a built in heater. Possible I can fix it - I'll take it out and have a look.

Already have the Leisure Batteries sorted, but thanks for the offer (y)

Ok. They will wait in my garage in case you do need them. I can also get Banner PowerBull lightly used battery for £30.

Just keep us updated. Not a million miles from you in Peterborough.

Jev88 - As your TV has a DVD that would be ideal. Would you mind posting it to me?

Hoovie - The DVD's would be really appreciated if you don't mind?

The gentleman has just popped over and I've told him that I asked for help on his behalf and what a great response there's been. I've told him everything on his van will be sorted so it works - and he'll have a proper TV. He started to get a little teary tbh and is incredibly appreciative.

I can understand this.

I now have enough to purchase 300w of solar and a battery maintainer to look after his starter battery.

So, if I can get the heater working and all the donated parts work okay, we are there.

Thanks all for your help and I look forward to updating this thread with the job complete.

All the best,
David

May still need a 12v TV/DVD if anyone has one surplus?

I have an Avtex W193D TV/DVD, just retrieved it from the attic and gone through the auto set up to make sure it works. (y) Your more than welcome to it. It's working but only seems to pick up crap daytime tv game shows:LOL:.
That would be perfect Fat Albert

Would you mind posting it to me at:

Just checking, is the TV sorted now?
I think it is thanks Jev (y)

be nice to see pics of the finished van :)

I'm going to do a short video of it that will be only visible from this thread Tombola

The MPPT arrived today (thanks) and because you donated such a good one, I was able to order a very good panel that just fits:

I've used these a lot - doing another build at the moment with 3 of them.

Blimey, either solar panels have come down a lot in price since I last bought any, or that's a damn good price. (y)

I’m late to this thread but willing to contribute cash if any more needed for the bits you need or for your fuel in running around. Just let me know.
Thanks for doing all this for a chap down on his luck.

Thanks for the offer Annie, but all sorted now it seems :giggle:

Just put a 12v socket in the back of his van to stop him draining the vehicle battery, so grabbed a pic of the actual van:

Dunno if he is pc or phone savvy, but may be worth mentioning this forum so he can jump on for tips / advice etc. Share some burden from you
