Anti-fox and anti -cats. help!

Do you get on with your neighbours. Seems strange how you are suffering so much damage.

So, before theres a storm of animal lovers on my case, I do like ‘em , EXCEPT when they eat my airlines and electrics ….
Just had it all fixed (££££) and they did it again little gits. Don’t know whether its cats or foxes.
Now I’m NOT looking for suggestions for hunting, poisoning or shooting them, but anyone have first hand knowledge of good anti fox and/cat deterrent that works?
Walked round the van tonight squirting lemon juice, the neighbours think we are doing some weird ritual thing…. View attachment 566781
Hi
Don't know if it'd work on the kind of animal which is doing it, but this is what I do against rats and other kind of rodents.
I buy a bottle of pure amoniac then put some in a bottle having a spray ( don't know if this is well put in english, sorry for that) then hold my breath and spray it all around and underneath the motorhome avoiding all rubber or caoutchouc bits as it may give an unexpected reaction.
Other than tickling their nose and mustache it imitates perfectly the smell of their predators . I renew it each time it has been raining.

EDIT : DO think about breathing now and then:xdoh:.... it might be a worse problem if you forget!:xrofl::xrofl:

I wish it was the neighbours , I’d sort that out! The old lady next door is great and normally keeps a good eye out for us , visitors etc . I’ll get her on mousewatch!

Cant access lion poo but I fully expect one of them to come along in a minute,
We are not even rural …
Blimey that's some neighbourhood you live in expecting a lion any minute. :xrofl:
In laymans terms, anyone tell me how the mileage registers on the dashboard, is it an electrical connection to a wheel?
Sensor in the gearbox.

You are not alone my mate had a fox chew through the earth wire to the rear lights on his Carthago.

Seems to be urban foxes that have developed the habit. We live next to fields with foxes, get then in the garden and around the house & drive never had any problems.

Had to correct a few things on my OP as I couldn't see properly what I was typing being at the hairdresser at that moment. :xblush:
Also I put pepper and/or piment in powder inside the motorhome along walls and cupboards ... same effect! I bet they can't stop sneezing! LOL

No that was helpful , I’m off ammonia shopping today!

It looks like squirrel damage. Please be careful if using poison as it’s attractive to cats and dogs, make sure it’s not loose but in a container where cats/dogs can’t get at it. Lost a cat once to slug pellets.

Must be something large enough to chew through the copper wire. I would have thought that most smaller rodents would just chew off the plastic coating and leave the wire exposed.

Trail camera to identify the culprit(s) first. Then whatever remedial action is required. If it’s rodent sized - even up to squirrel - then Goodnature have a solution. Not the cheapest to be sure, but very effective and unlike poisoning in an outdoors location, the target isn’t left somewhere to pass it on up the food chain (bird of prey ie. buzzard etc.).

The company I worked for had a big problem with vehicles I have flepix brake hoses chewed by foxes more common than you think. Armoured brake hoses fitted which seemed to worked

Get a cheap trail camera with infra red night vision and put it under the van. That way you can verify exactly who or what the culprit is. Then you can use the correct 'treatment'
sorry lead comes to mind.? lead paint. not happy. well i say. dab-it here .dab-it there. you only try once. if i said, if it works. there they go.
ok.pj. to happy times.

Some of the damage appears to be a jealous human rat to me. Cats and foxes are easy to blame.I would definitely rule a cat out too busy looking for mice,Rat possible but on heavy cable, think not lol.

Dunno about that - apparently (according to The Sun, so must be true ) tree rats are partial to broadband network cabling!

The tny tiny teeth marks kind of ruled that out! 🤣

Looks as if you need to make war on the rodents or wrap all the electrics in wire wool. living in the country and having chickens means war on rodents for us, the mice also love the tulip bulbs!

Get one of these your know for sure whom or what is is.
a photo or short film clip will help if it is a human in court.
if it is human it’s a very serious offence.

Looks identical damage to when Rodents ate my Abs sensor wire this summer. Did a lot of research as a result!!. They are attracted to any residual current in wires etc, thats why they often build nests on top of your battery. There is very little that will stop them once they know there is something they want in an area. Best advice I found was they really dont like pepermint oil, but there is a caveat - the trick is to sprinkle it around the vehicle but at a slight distance, before they are attracted by crumbs, electrics etc. Once they know there is something there they want they become single minded and ignore the deterent, persistent little b******s. I believe other animals also dislike concentrated peppermint oil. Worth a try if you dont want to go homicidal straight away!!!

Will try anything, can’t afford to keep replacing the wires, if it doesnt stop it may be a lifestyle change for us… if the terminal lifestyle change for them doesnt work of course….
