Update!
So, this morning the little f******** have done the christmas lights on the tree in the front garden.
Operation Exterminate in full flow,
Cctv , chemicals, traps, …. phase 2 … troops, electric fences etc,
Cant access lion poo but I fully expect one of them to come along in a minute,
We are not even rural …

In laymans terms, anyone tell me how the mileage registers on the dashboard, is it an electrical connection to a wheel? Never thought about it before…
Depends on Age/Make of the Vehicle, some used the ABS Sensor on a wheel, others use a sensor on the Gearbox... but all modern once tend to be fly by wire...

Mines 2016 peugeot Boxer pvc, sorry should have said that,
I’ll get a photo of a chewed wire that I think may be it
All towbar electrics are mangled…😫

The mouse attack on our old AT cost £700:00 to put right and a low loader journey to Garage.

There will be 2 set of wires on the front wheels probably, ABS sensor and Brake Pad Wear Sensor, unless it's the Older metal clip on Pad Wear...

Now you are making me think! My MOT garage reported broken Brake Pad Wear Sensor and sometimes in my Ring camera footage I can see what could be a mouse or rat running across near the van but always at night so not very clear.

We have a hedgehog that walks across our drive and under the car, it brings the security light on and scares Ann 😂

Get a cheap trail camera with infra red night vision and put it under the van. That way you can verify exactly who or what the culprit is. Then you can use the correct 'treatment'
I agree, but be prepared for more damage before you find out.
At least you'll know what you're up against, rather than having to guess, and then you'll have to devise some way to eliminate them. All the deterrents that I've tried have not been successful.
If you are unable to cull, create a barrier to stop them getting near, bearing in mind you need to be sure what kind of creature you're dealing with first.

I reckon you have a mouse infestation somewhere on your van they will cause a lot of damage? You need to look for a nest of them in the van somewhere🤔
Good suggestion .thank you ...
Done that… no sign…but it is parked about 2ft from a hedge all along one side so its a short dash for whoever it is… Its definitely a first world problem but its still v v annoying

Well it does seem like the full cast of the Lion King are using my garden as a playground so you never know..
If you have largish size holes appearing in your garden, it could be foxes.
I'd get (or hire) a trail cam to check. A barrier might stop a fox, but not a mouse.
Don't bother with electronic devices. I know that they do not work!

I park in a secure outside storage yard but not secure from meece. At the first sight of a visit which was claw prints on the wheel rims, I put down four traps inside and caught three. I then thought I should try to stop them getting in so I placed four traps, one at each wheel outside and the same number inside. Result three outside kills but none inside. Seems the plan could be working.

I think Fox traps are illegal

Mate of mine runs a garage - he found this under the engine cover on a BMW when opening it up to investigate a wiring fault. My money's definitely on squirrels.

It's a common issue here with pine martins (stone martins). We've been hit a few times, fuel lines, turbo pressure sensor tubing, engine insulation and even found rubber dog toys left on the engine top (under the bonnet).

Definitely the best solution is some form of sonic deterrent which do work on these fellas even if not perfectly but do offer some reasonable protection. Have a search for marderschutz or marderschreck and you find plenty of small alarms that can either connect to your battery or run on a separate power source, some solutions exist also for whole areas like a complete driveway or garage. The place where we store our van has one running 24/7

I may of accidentally shot one in the early hours a few years back, not sure how it got in the way of the .22 pellet that jumped out of the Feinwerkbau... but that was the same week i had a £500 repair for chewed cables in the Landy

Wee into a squirty bottle, Dish wash or some such, then leave "your mark" around about.

I do that to keep the cats off the Veggie Patch. Picked up that tip from the joker that was from the "River Cottage " cookery thingee when he kept chooks. It stopped the foxes from taking his Free Range chooks.

Most likely to be rodents. I would put bait boxes where you can (for safety please make sure they are secured to the ground and use bait blocks, not the loose grain type). Add something tasty such as peanut butter or cheese. You will need to check them daily at first, then every week. Remember rats do not go away and you will have to keep doing this indefinitely unless you can locate and eradicate the nest(s). Also get rid of any food sources such as compost heaps and pet food to steer the rats towards the bait. Easy and cost effective places to get rat bait are Amazon and Wilko.

But bait will attract them.
I'd put baited traps somewhere else.

My son in law had a problem with foxes in inner London. He had to replace a full front loom on a VW California. He wrapped the new exposed/ accessible wires with zip ties but left them with sharp protruding ends. Hasn't had any further problems.
