Another Water Leak Just Before Leaving, Assistance Required!

was that being helpful, or just being sarcastic.. ?

a trip to Spain is at least five days, many aires will have water shut off for winter, so makes sense to travel with it full.

I always did it in a day and a half from Bristol to Alicante :xThumb:
Sometimes with the caravan :xrofl:

yes, I take my time.. it's trip, not a a race.. two days across France another two in Spain plus a day to get to the ferry

but the post wasn't about how fast you go..:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

my point was, the post wasn't helpful, and saying there is water in Spain is just being sarcastic..

no wonder the OP got shirty

my point exactly.

The new part has now arrived and there is indeed a rubber oring around the inside on the thread. Ironically since refilling it has not leaked so for the moment I will pack it with me and change it when in Spain if the leak re appears.

Appreciate the help on here from those who have made suggestions.

I am off this afternoon so weather permitting will start my vacation.

I hope you all have a good Xmas and new year.

I would take some LSX in the van anyway :xThumb:

Picked some up this morning just in case.

Thanks

It’s great stuff for getting out of trouble quickly :xThumb:
We use it on waste washers , shower washers . Under taps and making up sink wastes and wc’s Etc .
Also great on compression fittings on a Friday night :xThumb:
In the Motorhome I’ve used it on the water tank lid like yours and also on push on hose fittings that have been weeping.
You can also bandage a pipe with it in an emergency but not ever been that desperate :xThumb:

@zac have a great trip :xgrin:

and from us.

Glad to see you got the LSX, my hubby used to do odd jobs for people when he was between employment. Now he is retired he still does odd jobs for people but these days doesn't get paid. LSX is brilliant for sealing leaks like when someone has a loo from B&Q and the donut washer and the porcelain fitment are not quite the correct size / shape - for some reason the B&Q fitments were never quite correct even though they come in a pack so should be exact. People who DIY refit bathrooms used to call him in a panic as the loo was leaking and they couldn't fix it. First thing he used to ask was "Did you get it from B&Q?" !!!!! Also good for radiator valves and all sorts of fiddly jobs where you need a flexible seal. It's better than "Plumber's Friend" :)

Oh and if you do find it continues to leak and you travel with empty tanks and the water on the aire has been turned off every supermarket in France and Spain sells bottled water for very little money. We've bought water when we didn't trust the free supply.

Is this LSX thingy stuff you're talking about Fernox LS-X?
If so, yip, great stuff!(y)

I didn't read it like that. A bit blunt maybe, but remember the op stated that in only leaked when full at 80% it was ok.

I hope you all have a good Xmas and new year.
You too @zac. (y)

BTW, 18 degrees and sunny where we are. ;)

Forgive me if I am a bit on the thick side and I am not 100% familiar with Rapido 1000 series. I assume the tank is in the garage, the tank in my 966m is under the lounge seat and there is no way it could leak into the garage. Is the garage floor not a sealed unit.

Not thick, only asking a question. I can't help you but others will. Maybe a new thread will help. Good luck :xThumb:

The fresh tank is under the floor with access through the inspection caps (now have the correct name) in through the garage. Nothing stopping the water coming out near those caps and then straight into the garage. We are now in Lecrin which is quite far south and in checking the garage when we got off the boat it had leaked again. So at the moment I emptied it to 10% which will be on for tonight and then we will head to a site tomorrow where I can empty the rest and fit the new cap. Now question. Now that I have that lsx stuff is it best to put that on the oring before fitting to ensure it doesn’t leak?

So managed to find a site today and take out the inspection cap from where i thought the leak was coming from, as you can see from the 2 pictures it is split around the top which is why it was still leaking as the movement of the motorhome both on the boat and driving would of brought the water up to the top of the cap. New one now in and it appears to be ok with no leaks.

Yes i agree, must of been both like that as the other one was replaced a few months back with the same problem. Both have never been touhed since i purchased new. Never had one go actually on any of the motorhomes i have owned but glad it was a simple fix.

@zac. Glad to hear that you have identified the cause of the leak, and hopefully, the new (INSPECTION CAP for those not fully aware ;) ), is able to solve the problem, and make the needed seal. (y)

Glad to hear you found the problem.
I guess that's a lesson learned for some, if you've got 2 of something and 1 fails, always check the other one asap.
Have a great and hopefully problem free trip.
