Another comformatic issue

So is it the Strikeback Non Starter not allowing you to start the engine, due to phone signal loss, or does the engine start and the "No Gears Available" warning re-appear?
Sorry for the confusion, but hope you can get on the move soon.(y)
We are right behind you, all fingers crossed.

It's a gear selection problem.
Initially thought to be caused by a dead battery, which also immobilised the engine. Strikeback is OK now although still receive no messages from it but I'll sort that if I ever get back to the UK.🤔

It's looking more than likely to be the clutch like it was with mine I'm afraid 😨

Was thinking the same, they're supposed to be coming back again today.
Waiting to see what they say.
And top it all,,, its raining

But as part of the startup, comfortmatic hydraulic is trying to check and put gears to neutral (when you switch off engine you are supposed to have left it in gear). If battery issue the ECU will already have an error mode by time the starter engaged?

You turn off the engine in 1st gear (as recommended by FIAT). There ought to be enough residual hydraulic pressure to select neutral immediately after the engine stops. That's my assumption and it seems to work. Hand brake had better be on tight!

Mine did the same, fine to site then felt odd starting off and within a mile couldn't select gears. After a month at a Fiat professional garage they eventually diagnose clutch slave cylinder, so replaced that and a new clutch. Plus the fluid from the shared master cylinder was like toffee, so drained flushed and refilled. Looking at the brake master cylinder, the level was right and fluid fine, but the secondary part that powers the clutch, the previous services had not flushed and refilled that section

Do you have 2 key fobs?

I used the non chipped fob would only start..
Don't know if that helps...

That's what happened to us "no gear selection with non chip fob swapped to normal fob" ....OK.
Good luck...
Cheers 🍻

Sorry you've lost me, the only fob I have is for the alarm, vanbitz.
My keys don't have built in fob as older van I presume

I must sound stupid,
when i want to turn my van off i have always put it in neutral is this right or do i turn engine off with it in drive or reverse

Comfortmatic should be turned off in gear - an alarm tuts you if you don't.
Still just needs a 'clutch self calibration enable' routine to sort out the gear select problem. Even the Fiat garages don't do it and charge you £000's to swap bits that don't need changing😡

I have always done the same however I have read somwhere you should always leave in gear when parking and then when restarting depress brake and put into N 🤔

So just had a meeting with Gérard who seems very knowledgeable via my translator, site owner. And we now need to transport it to his workshop in the village for him to carry out a clutch calibration and reset.
His feelings are that the clutch is not engaging correctly with the drive motors. He assures me that whatever the problem he'll sort it.
Hope so.

fingers crossed it is as dunnah01 said & it cures it. At least Gerard knows about it!

That is always the problem when they " change the brake fluid"" I did brakes on mine when I first got it. Didn't do the clutch until a few months later. just black treacle. Looked to be original.

The comfotmatic gearbox stays in first or reverse after switching off if you haven't put it in neutral. It's just like parking and leaving a manual in gear.

It's a weird operation where you have to start the procedure, accelerate at full throttle for about 200yds, stop and restart the engine. I had 12+ months of Comfortmatic gear selection problems and limp modes but nothing since I did this procedure nearly 12 months and 10k mike's ago.

Anyone used comforts breakdown cover. Tried phoning 6 times today, engaged tone for 44 seconds and then rings off. I need to transport MH from site to garage only 10 minutes away but can't legally tow it. Thinking pretty useless at the minute so glad I'm not in the middle of nowhere and stranded .

Can you access your account online, numbers should be in the documents or wait for a "Comfort" Funster to give you latest numbers

Cheers 🍻

We've used Comfort breakdown a couple of times in the past and found them excellent.
Afraid I can't access my paperwork at the moment for the number.

ive used them twice in the uk with the same problem as you ..........excellent both times

So after 2 hours on the phone I have now arranged for a tow truck. 😡😡
That's pretty poor, you should take that up with Comfort, all I can say is they answered the phone straight away when I broke down which is just as well as I was partially blocking the main road to Nantes I ended up with two breakdown trucks and two Gendarmes directing traffic around us.
