Another Caravan Dealer Closes Down

Spot on, we used to have takeaway fish & chips on wednesdays, the shop was always busy, sometimes queuing out of the door.
Our choice of takeaway fish and chips is still alway busy - sometimes queuing out of the door.

Trouble is, they are nearly 10 miles away - and the local ones aree rubbish - we would not eat them even if free.

It is worth the 10 mile trip. - been going there for decades.

It's been reported that Lady Bailey caravans in Winterbourne in Dorset is closing been for sale since 2022, and also due to declining market!!
Yes it has closed, but you are not correct. Chris is in poor health and decided to retire to spend more time with his family and Nick has also decided to retire.

The UK market for new motorhomes is up 35% this year……make of that what you can!!
I presume that is total value of sales not volume of sales? If so I suggest:

25% is down to van price inflation
10% is fulfilling back orders from 2023

or something like that. Also somewhere in the equation are caravan owners trading in their caravan for a motorhome.

Trips like that are easy in Europe. Loads of official free (or very cheap) park ups. Water/emptying might cost you a Euro. You can find all these places on apps like park4night, Searchforsites or just Google. If you have a solar you don't need EHU. If you are travelling a lot you don't even need solar as the engine will recharge you. LPG refillable bottle for your gas.

We don't plan - just have a vague direction we are going in and drive. See what happens along the way.

The last few years...

2021 - France - Spain
2022 - Germany, Italy right down to Sicily
2023 - Croatia/Bosnia/Montenegro/Serbia
2024 - Was supposed to be Spain/Portugal/Morroco but I had an accident so planning to do that this Spring instead.
Yeah we know, we do it all the time! But it would be nice to know haw these people did it, not to copy them but to see if any can be incorporated in other peoples travellers. They may have seen things other people haven’t. So that’s why we ask..

No, it’s new MH registrations. I know it’s hard to believe!! It’s balanced by the fact that the stock of new motorhomes at dealers over the last year has increased by 300%!!!!

Fair enough - I got the impression from your response that it was something you had never done!

I tend not to write up mine- too busy doing and enjoying. Did try a travelogue on one trip but found it too stressful keeping up with it.

You are about health and retirement, but they also said in their statement it was due to declining market also.
