Angles Mort magnetic plate

peterc10, Cliff cut up the lid of one of our recycling boxes an inch bigger than the sticker, stuck the sticker onto it, and then attached it to the van with 50mm ‘21 day’ Frog Tape. (Apparently you can buy it from Screwfix).

It comes off really easy. We stuck ours on whilst we were in France then removed them.

However they should be good for 21 days, and then come off with no harm done to paintwork.

It’s only shown on my nearside as I am parked close to the wall. The idea of the sticker fixing is it can be placed where needed.

Nice one 'Darloman' Love the idea of sewing a pocket on the cycle cover for Angle Morts sign

Guess could use a waterproof map case to sew onto cycle cover

Just to finalise this thread.

The outcome is that I have just had delivered from Germany the rigid Reflecto signs which are held on by suckers. They look very sturdy and seem to stick like s**t to a blanket. Not cheap but it will mean I do not have ugly signs on the motorhome when I am not in a French urban area. I will be taking them off when I am on fast roads in France so they should be OK.

How are these holding up? We are off end of April and these sound the best option so far f you don't want stickers

We are off to France and then Spain and Portugal soon we hope. I am going to have to use the ugly "Angles Morts" signs, but I am trying to find a way to only fit them temporarily when we are in French urban areas. and be able to put them on and take them off easily and quickly. At the moment I can put the side ones on the inside of the front part of the windows in our A class. But the problem is temporarily attaching the rear one.

I am thinking of permanently sticking a steel plate the same size as the sign on the rear and painted in a colour to match the paint on my motorhome. That way I will be able to simply attach and detach a magnetic version of the sign when needed. I know that I will then have a steel plate on the back permanently but it will look a lot better than one of these signs.

I am sure that somebody would have thought about this before but I can't seem to find anything like this on sale. Has anybody managed to buy these metal plates please.
If the magnetic sign is strong enough [ magnetism] you should be able to place the steel behind the panel somewhere for it still to stick firmly. depends if you can get access !

Please please tell me how those stickers will stop deaths!! I really don’t see the benifits. Just come back from Spain and yes every lorry and A frame MH has them on

I bought these micro suction ones with the additional plastic storage sheet. Work perfectly to put on and take off as required.

We transit France on non toll roads so stopping everytime we left a townsfolk remove the stickers would add weeks to our journey. Stick em on and forget about it is my theory....u can't see them from inside?

However, my question would be whether I stick the rear one on my nearside as that is my blind spot?

Forgive the simple question but can they be fitted to the doors if magnetic ? Then I can put the rear one on y bike rack - cheers

Err ,,Do the magnetic signs adhere to the aluminium body panels of some vehicles ??

Just about to get these….
The magnetic ones can go on the cab doors and I’m going to put the stick on one on a piece of flat plastic, drill a few holes in it and zip tie it to either the bikes or the bike rack.
If you get these zip ties from Halfrauds then you can remove and re—use it at your leisure.

Total cost £13.90, job jobbed.

Cheers!

Mine is an A class and does not have any magnetic materials on the outer skin including doors. And I don't have a bike rack.

I was trying to suggest an alternative for those of us with PVC’s and coach built vehicles, I though you’d solved your problem?! The ethos of this site is, correct me if I’m wrong here, to help others whenever possible. Surely suggesting an alternative will potentially help other MoHo.ers?

Cheers anyway!

I really liked the look of the reflecto ones until I saw the £19:70 delivery charge to GB. 🥴 I’ve gone with 3 magnetic ones; two for the doors and one I’ll punch holes in and use heavy duty suckers on for the back end. 👍🏻

Peel them off & stick back on the backing paper if needed on another trip. Job done.

Small towns villages are not urban areas.

Lenny HB, sorry but you (&others) keep posting this reference to the stickers not being needed in urban areas. When people (me & others) query your source for this, you never seem to reply! There has been another thread on the topic today where you were challenged on it - I think you are irresponsible in spreading misinformation.

If you can quote an authoritative source in French law, I will happily apologise.

Not seen anyone ask about it I originally got the info from a French site it was over a year ago can't remember where but I probably put a link to it at the time.

Well I asked you about it earlier today and you haven’t replied, and I’ve certainly queried it on prior occasions.

I believe that when the measure was being discussed there was some talk of it being in urban areas only, but it’s not in the final decree, which is at

So, unless you can quote an authoritative source otherwise, I think you should stop misleading people.

We are all free, of course, to decide whether to obey French traffic laws (many of the French don’t) but I just think it should be based on an accurate understanding of what the law concerned says. We didn’t use the stickers in France last year, and there was no interest from gendarmes, but if we’d been in a collision it may have been different. (Also could be an easy get out for your insurer.)
