Angles Mort magnetic plate

I was trying to suggest an alternative for those of us with PVC’s and coach built vehicles, I though you’d solved your problem?! The ethos of this site is, correct me if I’m wrong here, to help others whenever possible. Surely suggesting an alternative will potentially help other MoHo.ers?

Cheers anyway!

Russ
Chances are if you ve got a coachbuilt you don't need them. Ive hardly seen any 4 wheeled French MH's with them on.

The flasher really need to be on the offside & at the rear if it cannot be put on the roof.

If it is a 'homologated' one it has to have?

I saw my first spanish angulos muertos sticker yesterday ,on an amazon delivery van! They are voluntary here at present.
mentioned on a discussion here( with subtitles)

There's also a German version going around - Toten Winkel if I remember correctly.

Can't wait for the posts on here haggling to decide whether if you re going through France to Germany you need both :LOL:.

There is apparently a bit of pressure building for some kind of EU Kahn Cam system. Of course the easiest way is to require Cyclists to carry identification plates, so the rogue element would become accountable for their actions.

I have e mailed the French ministry of the interior to ask if stickers are needed everywhere or just in urban areas. There are some differences between government press releases and the legislation so I have asked for confirmation. Don’t know if or when I will get an answer but no harm in asking.

What you on about I replied to your eairler post.
The earlier post yesterday was in this thread . I queried in post #7 your comment at post #3, and a similar comment by another user at post #6. The other user responded very positively, but I can see no sign of any response from you.

I think you need to read posts 3, 6 & 7 again none of them anything to do with me and you have not tagged me anywhere.
You appear to be very arogent so I won't be replying to any more of your posts.

And you don’t seem to understand links! Your post #3 was in the other thread (Angles Mort Stickers) which I linked to - the clue is the blue hypertext.

I’m sure I’ll cope (just!) with you not responding to any of my posts, but am still mystified by your claim that you did reply when I challenged your assertion.

Hopefully Clewsy’s attempt to get clarification from the French government will bear fruit, but anyone interested in the issue might want to look at the other thread Angles Mort Stickers .

Small towns villages are not urban areas.
It would be really helpful if the French would define what they consider to be an urban area in this case. I've been peeling mine off as I leave France and sticking them back on again when I enter, which is Ok but I still hate the look of them ( tbc I would be more tolerant of the appearance if I thought they would make any difference) But I'm tempted to leave them off totally on my forthcoming trip and see what happens, I'm hardly ever in what I consider to be an urban area anyway.

Btw Lenny HB whose annoyed you? you didnt tag or quote anyone- hoping its not me?

This is enough to confuse anyone.

The aire urbaine is built from France's nationwide interlocking administrative commune municipalities: when a commune has over 2000 inhabitants and contains a centre of dense construction (buildings spaced no more than 200 metres apart), it is combined with other adjoining communes fulfilling the same criteria to become a single unité urbaine ("urban unit"[2]); if an urban unit offers over 10,000 jobs and its economical development is enough to draw more than 40% of the population of a nearby municipalities (and other municipalities drawn to these in the same way) as commuters, it becomes a pôle urbain ("urban cluster"[3]) and the "commuter municipalities" become its couronne ("rim"[4]), but this only on the condition that the urban unit itself is not part of another urban cluster's rim. The aire urbaine is an urban cluster and its rim combined, or a statistical area describing a central urban core and its economic influence on surrounding municipalities.

Types of aires urbainesEdit

As of 2010, depending on their population and function, aires urbaines adopt the following secondary appellations:

  • aires urbaines with more than 500,000 inhabitants and 20,000 official 'metropolitan-type jobs' are considered aires métropolitaines ('metropolitan areas')[5]
  • aires urbaines with more than 200,000 inhabitants are considered grandes aires ('large urban areas')[5]
  • aires urbaines centred around a 'pole' urban unit with 5,000 to 10,000 jobs (with at least 40% of the surrounding commune populations working there) are 'moyennes aires' ('medium urban areas').[6]
  • aires urbaines centred around a 'pole' urban unit with 1,500 to 5,000 jobs (with at least 40% of the surrounding commune populations working there) are 'petites aires' ('small urban areas').

You don't need them for the Isle of Wight, Triky. on the C&MCC ;)
Not going there at the moment 'Cyber',,TOO high a 'Covid ' count this week ,,,1833 !! Up by 93% since last week !! Just had a nice 5 days in Cornwall though on the C&MCC site at Looe .

Used the suction pad angles morts plate all way down through France on motorways into Spain and back again. No problems at all. Plates are made of aluminium or similar light alloy.

Easy to apply and remove and yes the tops are threaded on to the suction pads and do screw on/off however, we found it easier to ease the suction caps of the door to remove the plates. Leaves no marks.

There is a video on you tube of a German company testing the different types of angles morts stickers, magnetic and suction pad types using a power washer to replicate motorway/driving conditions I guess. Worth having a look.
Would you be kind enough to put the link to the YouTube video as I can't seem to find it, and many thanks.

We are off to France and then Spain and Portugal soon we hope. I am going to have to use the ugly "Angles Morts" signs, but I am trying to find a way to only fit them temporarily when we are in French urban areas. and be able to put them on and take them off easily and quickly. At the moment I can put the side ones on the inside of the front part of the windows in our A class. But the problem is temporarily attaching the rear one.

I am thinking of permanently sticking a steel plate the same size as the sign on the rear and painted in a colour to match the paint on my motorhome. That way I will be able to simply attach and detach a magnetic version of the sign when needed. I know that I will then have a steel plate on the back permanently but it will look a lot better than one of these signs.

I am sure that somebody would have thought about this before but I can't seem to find anything like this on sale. Has anybody managed to buy these metal plates please.
Hi Peter, Round and oblong steel discs of different thickness and diameters are available on EBay.

Dear Marge (for the older ones on here)
I have bought a massive plastic box on wheels with any number of cutouts filled with tinted windows, huge swooping graphics everywhere and odd protuberances on the roof.
Now they say I have to put three small signs on it and I don’t want to because they are ugly.
please help.
