Am i been naughty its not Cornwall or Devon.

I’ve always put the jam on first as I cannot fathom out how to spread jam onto cream . It all just moves about and makes a mess. If any of the cream first gang can tell me how to spread jam on top of cream I’ll give it a go.
If you use proper thick clotted cream the constituency is more like butter and doesn’t move when you smear jam on it!

I think it was from a time when the cream was used like butter and spread thinly. The current method of trying to get the world record for cream altitude does not lend itself to this method.

You haven’t seen how much clotted cream I put on. Honestly it’s over an inch thick in a large pile.🧁like on this bun😂.

Only an inch, you are a mere beginner. :giggle:

A traditional Devon cream tea doesn’t have scones but Devon Splits that are more ‘bready’

You are from Cheshire? Should be peanut butter and jam with a side of marmite!

It's OK because it's on a fruit scone, proper Cornish way is on a split ! and then it should be jam first topped with Cornish clotted cream ;-)

Definately neither! No one in Cornwall would even consider putting a squirty can cream on a scone! , so without any fear of contradiction, I can say, That Scone is a product of Watford, or anywhere where they have as much culture as a Petra dish, anywhere north of the Tamar, or foreign parts, east of Dover.

Cut out the middleman. Buttered scone then a dollop each of cream and jam straight in gob off a spoon
Amounts to same thing.
I guess you don’t hold your little finger out with that method John

Your right.. for future refence Devon and Cornwall are definitely much bigger and looking at a map not so tasty looking

None of your comments count as it’s NOT REAL COTTED CREAM. In fact it looks like and probably tastes like shaving cream. Dig a little deeper and buy real Clotted Cream.

If think the idea is to put big dollops of jam on the cream or big dollops of cream on the jam if your trying to spread the jam then you have completely missed the point and may aswel have a jam sandwich

Throw away the bun and jam just get a spoon and a kilo of clotted cream😍
My neighbour went shopping and returned with 72 bottles of Guinness, 200 fags and an 800g loaf. I had to query why he had all that bread ... 😂

How about jam then cream (clotted of course) and then more jam. That way you have achieved both aims of having cream on jam and jam on cream. Now the real challenge is creating a scone with 2 topsides instead of a top and a bottom, the top always being the nicest.

the top always being the nicest.

Cut 2 whole ones in half..... put the two top halves together with Jam and Cream...

Then throw the bottoms out in the garden for the birds... (y)

Are we on to 3rd page yet?
Nah! we haven't disguised our desert yet.
What's it to be then?
For me it would be Hockings (north Devon) Clotted Cream Ice cream, 2 large scoops, with fresh Strawberry's and a Strawberry Coulis heavily drizzled over both.
Then Coffee & Brandy to finish.
