The overhang on our Dethleffs was 2.6m (8 foot 6 inches) and we only once had to get the ferry staff to put a plank under the rear wheels.

Think I might need the see a consultant Ian and get De SwiftedI’m sure you'd be fine (the Dethleffs used to sit quite low).
I suspect that your experience with your old Swift’s undercarriage has traumatised you.

There really isn't that much lift. Maybe 5cm at the rear so I wouldn't be relying on it for ground clearance. It certainly improves the ride and rocking when parked.Hi Jim the main reason is getting on and of ferries and load improvement
