I've never heard anyone complain that air makes things worse. It almost always improves the drive of any fully loaded van. Do you have anything specific about the handling you'd like to improve?

How long is your overhang?

The overhang on our Dethleffs was 2.6m (8 foot 6 inches) and we only once had to get the ferry staff to put a plank under the rear wheels.

We have just changed from a sonic with full air to a rapido 8096. My initial thoughts are that the sonic suspension was only marginally better than the standard when overtaking etc. I find the suspension acceptable on the rapido. The ride height on the rapido is quite high when you compare it with the like of swift and and bailey so would need a very steep incline to ground it out given the moderate overhang compared to some.

I’m sure you'd be fine (the Dethleffs used to sit quite low).

I suspect that your experience with your old Swift’s undercarriage has traumatised you. 😉

For handling the air suspension is superior to the Fiat. But if I had an alko rear axle I would not bother.
