I wish you hadn’t posted this. Read this and went out and bought a hw110 .177. So accurate. Now bank account is a bit lighterI had a hw100 .22 caliber but sold it and bought the .177 hw100 instead, more accurate straighter projection and kills just as good as a .22 great for rats
I also have firearms rifles for longer distance stuff and larger quarry
Have a look on freeads site or guntrader for a decent 2nd hand pcp air rifle
You need a licence in Scotland and a good reason for wanting one.I've got absolutely no reason to own an air rifle but from following this thread I now want one.
Clock it over the head with the butt.If you use a Diana, which is basically a pop gun, the pellets will just bounce off a rat unless you are a foot away and a good shot.

Not being picky but why not put some chicken wire around the trees and leave the rabbits alone? It’s funny to read this as I have just come in from trying to shoot the pesky rabbits that are destroying my new young trees , not for sale ,an air arms S300 , .177 , I use a divers cylinder to pressurise it
If you don’t live in Scotland nothing has changed since then.I have a question for all you air rifle experts.
Back in 1992 we had squirrels in the loft of our previous house so I bought an air rifle to get rid of them. I think it was the most powerful one I could buy without some form of licence. I still have it somewhere in the loft of our present house. Can I still use it, or have the rules changed since 1992?

How strange as I was reading the post out to my hubby (loves air rifle) and he said he would prefer a .177cal - for the accuracy and range. You might be better with a.177cal smaller pellet faster and straighter flight trajectory, though the .22 does hit harder, just a point that is argued depending on preference.
Have a look at Airgun forum and Airgun BBS.To be honest I hadn't given it any thought, it was just this thread that reminded me. It cost quite a bit when I bought it as it's a serious bit of kit. I'm going to have to do some research before committing but I'll update over the next day or so.
Another vote for a 0.77, Ive got one with a precharge and use domed pellets, seems pretty effective.
Careful - that how it start just with buying one. Hubby and Chris+Tracy could probably set up a small shop now!I've got absolutely no reason to own an air rifle but from following this thread I now want one.
To ensure it is legal Peter just have it tested over a chronograph .. any dealer should help you.I have a question for all you air rifle experts.

I've got an "Air Arms TX200" .22 fitted with a silencer but I'm not sure what it's worth these days?

Oh no, Can it be fixedResult of someone outside my house
That's some serious stuff you got there!I do quite a lot of Air rifle shooting when in Field Target competitions everyone shoots with .177 for better accuracy.
Currently I shoot with a tuned Weihrauch HW100s, I also own a HW97 and HW80 which is rather unique in that when I bought it it was .22 I went into Sandwell Field Sports and they changed the barrel for a .177 from a HW95 and fully tuned the rifle, shoots like a dream with very little recoil, the nice touch is it has the word Mantis inscribed in gold letters.
Chris my wife shoots with a Brocock Concept .177.
I also have an Air Arms S200.
Some pics of the HW80 springer, out in the field we always get dinner.

The big ones are more secret, the smaller ones move about more in the open. Early morning you can catch the big ones in your lights sometimes.I've seen them down there....they're as big as sqirrels
