Have tried and not successful to find info on other pages.
as above touring France/ Spain 6 weeks next month.
We have 2 6kg Calor gas cylinders. Would it be possible to buy a 6kg in France or Spain and use this in place of one of the then empty Calor cylinder.
Which Brand of 6kg bottle should I go for?
Is it possible to buy an adaptor/connector or would I need to source a tail pipe the van has a bulkhead regulator.
Advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard this before which puzzles me, if the gas is at 30mb from the cylinder top reg and then goes to the bulkhead reg as it's at the correct pressure already why would it restrict it?
Dunno.
But it does, according to Anecdotal evidence.
Basildog do you have a view on this?

As an aside, but still relevant, how wide are the gas locker doors on the 'standard' UK motorhome?
I appreciate that there isn't a 'one size, fits all' but I'm referring to those narrow doors fitted to Autotrail, (and others) back in the day.
I know that was very much in my mind when we were looking at our first van after half a lifetime of tugging with a gert (sic) big French bottle in the front locker.

I can say with certainty that running more than one low pressure regulator on a system is not correct and can cause problems.
Most regulators will require a minimum inlet pressure of approximately 0.3 to 0.5 Bar , the second regulator will without doubt restrict the flow / pressure.

We do stock medium pressure regulators for certain applications like in the external cylinder connection kit here , which is actually the only correct way of using an external cylinder on a leisure vehicle , not gas outlet points (BBQ) or high pressure connection hoses into filler points .

You’ll probably need a pigtail for it to go to your regulator as I’m not sure what you have…. But here is the kit.. £160.😎

Most of the supermarkets chain's in France will supply a free issue bottle of your choice. You can then exchange it any where at their branches through out France. You will need to buy a French pig tail for their bottles
Where would the most likely place to buy the pig tail please
If you currently have butane bottles then for Spanish bottles you need a "Spanish jumbo adaptor" this simply screws onto the end of your pigtail in place of your Clip on bottle adapter. Buy this before you leave as they are a bit rare in Spain. Used 11kg Spanish bottles you can get pretty easily campsite boards / car boots ( rastro) / facebook selling sites etc. The 6kg do exist but much harder to obtain.
Thanks for info limited to 6kg.

I’ve only got the 3 set of adapters and I’ve been over most of Europe with no problems…
Adapters are in the 3 set for France, Spain, Germany and others….
I have an underslung tank, I already have leak test fluid and there are alternatives…😎

I’m off to Spain and France in 2 weeks and bought a couple of bits from Hamilton Gas, really helpful company I gave them a call and explained what I was intending to do and he recommended which pig tail to buy and which adaptor to get. I bought a pig tail and clip on adaptor for France so I could pick up a Le Cube gas bottle If needed, and an adapter for Spain if I run out of gas there. depending how often you intended to travel in Europe I think this is a cheaper option than having A system installed. (only my opinion)

Our motorhome isn't a standard UK one as it's a Chausson but I wouldn't be surprised if the doors are a similar size. Using calor cylinders the 6kg is the largest that fits but I think it's really designed for a bigger French cylinder and an 11 kg gasit just fits in.

Turn off your gas bottles and if you have barbecue point connect Spanish/French bottle with regulator on job done

Thank you and also for refer to Hamilton Gas website huge choice. I shall probably only be going abroad once more so that set up would be ideal.
Another ask I afraid but do you have the reference numbers for parts you bought. Would be greatly appreciated by me and possilbly others!

I bought the more expensive pig tail with the rupture valve as I drive with the gas on for the fridge as when using the 12v is only a cool box..

That regulator looks like it is mounted far to low, it should be above the bottles with the hoses running down to the bottles.
That’s where the regulator was fitted from new so I presume Autotrail know what they are doing, actually it is Autotrail so maybe not 🤣

The problem is when they are too low is the regulator gets gummed up with oily residues and fails.
