"A Year in Spain" My "last gasp" attempt at posting (informative info).

Please just pop an odd word of support/or not on someone's thread. It's soul destroying to think you're talking to yourself 😊.

Even negative comments are, sometimes, better than silence.
Being female you get used to it 🤷‍♀️
Just write your diary/blog if you get pleasure writing it. If others read or comment they will if they find it interesting but I often read and don't comment .when I read a book I don't write to the author.
If you enjoy your writing others will enjoy reading it.
Post your blog I'll read it and if I remember I'll give you a like but I am the wrong generation as are many others on here
Look forward to hearing about your adventures

Lac du Causse outside Brive! The 4 of you kept us sane when the van broke down.

The aire was a great little stop that we'd like to re-visit in less stressful times.

We haven't been back on the continent since lockdown started when we were in Calpe, but last year we went to Ireland and got the dog an Irish passport so we intend to get over later in the year.

I had a new hip 18mths ago and I'm due the other in 3 weeks. All being well, we hope to do a bit of northern Spain in September.

Look forward to catching up.

Terry

Let us know where you might be in Northern Spain, we may still be up that way in September 👍

I love reading travel threads / blogs, but very rarely comment 😉 but can see your point, some like people commenting, but the thread can get sided tracked and sometimes causing upset. 😁
But I like / love posts and sometimes look up places people visit even if we are unlikely to ever go there, and appreciate the time and effort taken. 😎

Where as Janie follows YouTube vanlife and other various things and comments, and spends lots of time on the internet but rarely comes on fun. 😁 Bob.

I rarely leave comments but do dish out the likes.
I left one here now so you know that i'll be following.
Keep the photos coming and safe travels(y)

Some poppies have made it through the dry ground
I love poppies. A few years back I purchased seeds with a view to sowing them out on the front bank amongst the cut down bamboo. 14,000 it said there was in the packet. I watered them, in addition there was some rain & I have never seen even one:cry:

Griffon Vultures.
How cloes were you Judith or is that using a zoom as I have only ever seen one on the ground & when I rounded a bend about 60m from him he took off.
The wing span is huge about 8 or 9 feet & the effort & distance to gain height fascinates me.
David is now riding back to Murcia from Canfranc Station.
That's about 800km . How long is he doing it over?

lovely photos as usual.(y)

I love poppies. These are pretty poor in relation to previous years. lorger has a lovely photo on his French thread.

We were about 100m from the vultures, I did use the zoom 👍. There were many of them sitting together but most of them took off when we pulled up. They flew right over us at low level, but I couldn't get a photo.

I think David is doing his ride over 6 days. The Don Quixote route wasn't enough for him 😂.

Edit. He's on a traditional road bike for this ride!

We're on the mtorhome parking for Puebla de don fadrique. There are two official places here, marked by a blue and white painted motorhome on the ground. We've been on both places 😄. We moved to our present spot for more shade this afternoon. We're Billy no Mates again.

Riding again tomorrow. One of our own routes we did in November 2021. It'll be much warmer this time.

From here we have a choice of directions to travel, but that will be on Saturday.

I collected hundreds of poppy heads from France one time to spread on some open land next to my house, there are thousands of seeds in the heads, and I’ve never seen one on the land…😔😎

It's said that they grow when the land has been disturbed. I don't know how true that is though. It appears it is true.

I too am following your travels. Thank you for posting. I love reading travel books, dare I suggest you write one? I would buy it :giggle:

I'm no writer, I'm afraid.

I'm just someone who loves to travel and let people know of places we've been that may be of interest to others. I'm happy to continue to do just this. It's an interest for me.

Thanks for your comment 💕

Please keep posting, I’m relatively new and haven’t been down to Spain in the motorhome.
When I do plan a trip I will look at all the posts via the search facility so they are appreciated.
I will make sure i have a look at LennyHB’s travels as well!

And the ones by DBK 👍

We were confident in today's ride. After all we were following my own, Wikiloc posted route from November 2021. We didn't allow for

(a) the market being in town, and
(b) roads being closed due to new block paving being laid.

We, eventually, got up the hill, to the Ermita and onto our route.

It was much the same, on the ground, as before, but the temperature was a touch different and the route seemed so much shorter than we remembered.

I took a photo of an intriguing building, hiding behind trees. It appears to be the Mosque of al-baida but information is scanty.

The recreation area was lovely, and very shady, and although there were no "no motorhome" signs, P4N says its daytime parking only.

New trees, guarded by high fences, have been planted since we were last there, and the views back down to the valley show the line of the watercourse.

A little further on we passed more lavender fields.

And we managed to renegotiate the market as we threaded our way through the narrow back streets.

It was another perfect riding morning and we were back at the van with plenty of time to stow the bikes, have a shower and an aperitif, before heading to the town for lunch.

Lunch was pretty good 😊

I also like reading of your travels, I think we just missed you last year around Galicia (weren't you lucky😁)
Are you also on polarsteps as jumartoo ?
Have posted there and following friends at the moment.

It would have been great to meet up.

I'm on Polarsteps as Judith Checkley

Love seeing the photos, one day we will get to some of those places, hopefully.

We have a more recent L......drive, although I gather they haven't changed much at all!

Do you still have the tinnitus? I gather there are several things that can set it off, an illness or infection can do it apparently. Mine was noise related, and is likely to be permanent unfortunately.

I still have the tinnitus it started after I had Covid. Maybe that was just coincidental. Strangely, I have different sounds each day 😄. I'm hoping it'll go away eventually.

I'm sorry to hear that yours is likely to be permanent 😥

Well, we are now at home.

We'd decided Martin's knees needed a day off from riding, but then we saw that the forecast for tomorrow was for rain! After months and months of sun ... its needed though, so can't complain.

We also had a message to say our two sofas were available and had been sent to the delivery company. So that meant we'd have to be home on Monday, anyway.

So here we are. We've lots of things we need to catch up on here. The car needs a service. The motorhome needs a part fitting (spotted on its recent test, but only an advisory) and an oil change before we do 3/4 months away in the summer.

And there's some good telly viewing today, apparently 😊

The washing machine is doing its bit and I'm typing on here, whilst Martin is watching the Coronation.

My thread is "A Year in Spain" so homelife may feature from time to time 🙂.

There's still plenty of interesting stuff around here that I can post about, especially for winter visitors to the Mazarron/Totana/Alhama areas.

I typed a long dirge about our 9 years previous to moving here then deleted it as being irrelevant.

Better to look forward.

And so, tomorrow, weather permitting 😂 I'm going for a ride with Kay, whilst Martin stays home and does bike and van fettling 🤞🤞

Or it might have something to do with my phone taking time to catch up after my moving from Portugal to Spain.
Jumping backwards and forwards in time.
