Typically, the cooling power is either on or off to a fridge. You can't get a feel for the actual usage without setting your device to kWh and measuring total usage over a complete day. Usage will be greater during the day than at night, so you need a complete 24 hours.

I did think a 24 hour test would be more informative, set it going at 4, just been back to check

Still using nearly 300W and cost set at 27p/Kwhr it has cost 14p in just under 2 hours, shows fairly constant consumption

I have concluded that 2 hours will do for me

Can you explain how washing by hand uses more energy than dishwashers ! That's lost on me !

You need to press the "Function" button to get it to read "kWh" or "Wh". The instantaneous readout will always read about 280W or 5W, depending on whether the thermostat is satisfied. Make sure the kWh counter is reset before you start.

Maybe my fridge is faulty, in 2 hours I am confident it didn’t cut out, bit of maths in my head says 7p / hr is just under 1/3 Kwhr

I might investigate further as the fridge hadn’t been getting very cold, this could be a clue although the freezer is frozen so it must be working

Yes. There might be an issue. If it isn't getting cold, the thermostat will never switch off and the heating element will be going flat out. Maybe dried out thermal paste.

Just bought the Quest mini oven which at 650w should pay for itself over the winter. Will also be usefull in the van.

Bought one last week, it uses 0.4kwh compared to 1.1kwh in the combi oven to bake a potato.
Will pay for itself in about 5 months. Much better than the power guzzling Ninja things
