A Plea About Funsters Names!!!!

Not everyone wants their personal life shared although happy to do so amongst friends.There are less than 100 people worldwide with my surname, and just uniquely me when combined with the Christian name. So if something gets posted with my name, it's me that is being referred to.

I have never understood the need for 'nicknames' when registering on any forum.

I have always used my name if possible, what's the reason? some user names are simply ridiculous, and appear to be some weird Internet persona..
Darn, I've been sussed :rofl:

I'm Minxy Girl because I couldn't think of a name when I joined and my actual name was taken (well the shortened version was ... 'MelB') and as someone had called me a Minx on another forum I used that, then some funsters (even weirder than me) though I was a boy :oops: so I became Minxy ... but for some unfathomable reason a minority of funsters were still confused about my gender :eek: so I added Girl ... saying that there are some who just haven't a clue so goodness knows what gender they think I am as I still get called 'mate' and also often Mindy!
:LOL:
Time for Jim to put a spreadsheet in Resources so Funster name changes can be tracked? :cool:
Wouldn't work as people don't use their real names in the first place.

I used to meet up for coffee regularly in car parks, with female solos just for a coffee and chinwag, we still do and have made lovely friends...... but when you arn't sure what they look like and you keep going to lone people in cars asking, "Are you looking for Joy?" ... movan became a better option. :(

Something similar with me--only a few people with my married surname in the world, so I would be easy to find--and can't have everyone knowing where I'm camping.....:lipssealed: ..... they might want to join me!

Back in the early 70's my wife liked a Revlon perfume so just before her birthday I seriously embarrassed myself by asking at the counter in Boots if I could get 'Intimate' there. Can't bear the perfume now as she was wearing it when she was rushed into hospital seriously ill with encephalitis which she caught from both our boys with measles (or chicken pox?). She recovered fine but the smell of the perfume still gives me the Willies nearly 50 years later.

My old mum asked for Anus Anus....! She meant Anais Anais. :)

For about 20 years until she died I used to 'look out' for my lovely 90 yr old sprightly but rather deaf neighbour;-odd jobs, dealing with callers and phone messages etc. She had no family and her fiancé (her only boyfriend) was killed in the war. One day she asked me for a lift to an appointment at the eye hospital as her doctor suspected that she had a detached rectum. Much missed, old luv.

I'm quite happy to use my own name, but Terry had gone so I just added the initial of my surname. I use the same username in lots of places although I do have an alternative, longer and more obscure one for situation where I'd rather not be so easily identifiable. If you peruse the membership names (have a look at the "Who's on line" list) you'll see quite a few of us unimaginative folk do the same.

But if somebody wants to use something else, provided it's not done for some nefarious piurpose, why not? I find (some of) them quite amusing.

Live and let live! :cool::cool::cool:
