A photo of the day thread

Being born in a muslim country and being one of those (that he's not) he would be allowed only 4 wifes...............who's daft enough to wan't more than one  not my son thats for sure.
UK allows sixteen. Four poorer, four richer, four better, four worse. I explained this to a US wedding planner over dinner on a cruise a year or two back.

Behind Warkworth Castle Northumberland - Stunning scenery and wildlife.

Today’s a Bank Holiday in Scotland
We’re having typical Bank Holiday weather on Skye.
Gust of 91mph earlier 😳
Wonder how all the Motorhomes up here are getting on?

Just seen report of multiple MHs blown over on A87 between Broadford and Portree.
Say safe everyone.

Tell us more! As someone who is fascinated by unusual cooking methods ( garlic roasted leg of lamb on the exhaust manifold of a vintage Riley while driving to Dorset), I am interested. I know it's been hot and sunny, but surely you need a parabolic mirror to focus the heating, maybe a dustbin lid and some foil?

First thing, we are in the south of france and it has been about 34°C today, but, the oven is literally two cardboard boxes, one about 2.5cm smaller than the other on all sides, i used some bits of old cork insulation between the boxes on the bottom, for the sides I used bubblewrap, lined the internal sides with kitchen foil, put a black metal cooking tray in the bottom, using another bit of cardboard covered on one side with foil, hinged and a prop so you can change the angle to reflect the most heat into the box, and finally a piece of glass for the top.

I made it about 12 years ago as an experiment, and have used it every summer since, this year I did referbish it with new foil. You also do have to keep turning it into the sun.

About every hour I turn it a bit so that it is back into the sun, in fact i turn it further so that the sun then slowly moves into the peek position then starts to go out again, at this point I turn it again.

We have only ever cooked veggie food in it, becouse it can be a bit random if you forget to move it, but the food always tastes better, becouse it has been slowly cooked.

What are the purpose of the jam jars, Widge?
My wife jane had made some apple chutney the day before, as it happends, also in the sun oven, i was just sterilising the jars for her, before she put the chutney in them.

Ventured out for the first time since Skye had the 90mph winds on Monday.
Came across this sad sight a mile down the road 🙁
Was a hired Motorhome, hope they had ticked all the extras boxes on the insurance documents!

Eastern Lapland borderlands view towards Russia. The fjells in the horizon were lost in the WW2 and the people of half a dozen villages around them had to migrate west.

Spurred on by Bob's photo. A some of you know Clare and I like the odd Aperol and have a few photos with them in. But this is our latest at the stunning Lago Di Braies today.

We're lucky to live opposite a nature reserve where there's a buzz around sightings of Large Copper butterflies. Google says extinct in the UK, apparently not, but very rare I believe.

We're even more lucky to have just seen them for ourselves. (pic heavy, sorry) AndyPK what are the lilac thistle-type flowers please?
