A photo of the day thread

Laundry day in Bergen. Smartest, cleanest and newest laundromat we've ever used.

Bergen, when we arrived there after a Norway holiday we couldn't get into our hotel, why...... We were kept waiting because they were waiting fot the Rolling Stones to arrive, they were staying at our hotel and playing in Bergen.

Management was furious, I was frustrated that I hadn't realised they were playing there before we left.

Usual queue at the workers entrance for breakfast. None of them are ours, but after a hard nights hunting, well probably sleeping by their arga 🤣

A short car drive out this afternoon to the Butterburn Flow bordering Northumberland and Cumbria, a wildy beautiful area almost 8 miles from a main road across a single track road ending at Churnside lodge in the Wark Forest. After such a wet spring and summer I have never seen such verdant and green hedgerows, roadside verges and fields considering its late July in the 35 years I have lived in the area .It is stunning with Meadowsweet in profusion wafting its lovely scent in the air and the accompanying profusion of grasses and wildflowers.

Not normally a fan of graffiti but saw this interesting transformation of a GPO box in Gloucester yesterday.

A few from the last week or two...

On a forestry walk near home, found a Minature Tree Hugging Albino Hedgehog on the path where (s)he had obviously fallen out of the tree. So we put it back in a safe place!

Turns out it was the bobble of a young girls riding hat and had been caught on the branches as she rode under!!
  How were we supposed to know??

At our coffee spot this morning, felt a little sorry for Mr(s) Snail who had slithered all the way up this dead Cow Parsley stem to find the cupboard was bare!

Meanwhile next door this one had left the motorhome at the bottom and was filling his boots!!

We were at Kirkcudbright and Port William a couple of weeks ago. That statue's pose looks so realistic in silhouette. I even fooled OH by saying that he hadn't moved all afternoon

Yes, he's been there a while!! ::bigsmile:

What was remarkable this visit was the clarity of the view to the Isle of Man! It doesn't show it in the photos but that was the clearest I've ever seen it.

It was also the first time we had visited without the harbour smelling:sick:.

It must be the effects of Global Warming:happy:

On a trip to Lake Vyrnwy, North Wales, we checked out its dam. At the time of building it was the largest masonry dam ever built.

We decided to have lunch at the Lake Vernwy Hotel which has great views from its dining room and terrace.

The weather wasn’t great so we will return. Probably on a bright winters day when the trees are without leaves. That will give a better view of the lake from the road that runs all the way around.

Here for the weekend. Riverbankannie it’s very tame.

We’ve spoken to two British competitors and they have said that two weeks ago they were told there will be pace cars (which were very slow) and that overtaking was no longer allowed. They both said this will be their last time.

What a shame. Are the track marshals still smoking whilst standing on the straw bales?
Keep an eye out for acrobatic sidecar riders on the bends.

We were chatting to a guy who said that a British couple on a sidecar outfit (apparently both in their 80s) were fuming about the new rules.

He told us about the Goodwood Revival meet - maybe one for next year!

He had a beautiful 1920s BMW. He told us he had many cars and bikes, and that a guy who fixed his bikes is the world expert on restoring Manx Nortons. Turns out Cliff went to college with him - small world or what!
