Out birding here in SW Northumberland this afternoon in sub zero temperatures lovely sunny still afternoon hardly a breath of wind. Unusually the snow has missed us here in the North Pennines but it’s been very cold -8.4 overnight. Consequently many of the very minor roads are very icy so care is needed. I was heading to a birding location North of Edges Green which is located North of Haltwhistle, road is several miles long and a dead end, road conditions were tricky then I came to this dip (photo 1) covered in sheet ice and I bottled it, going down would be OK but I would have to try to drive up it, no way in my car so birding curtailed for this location.🥶😱😱

A wander down the South Tyne riverbank (SW Northumberland) behind our houses early this morning -5 degrees at 09;30hrs lovely calm and sunny with few clouds. 30+ years living here and seeing the river starting to freeze over is a rare occurrence 🥶🥶🥶.

bobnick, anyone you know, or you’re not really away in the desert 🐪🌵 Google earth view….

Started mine up yesterday. Sounds wonderful. Can't wait till weather improves.
Strangely son just bought another house in Driffield....................Driffield Road that is, Northwich:LOL:

Indeed it was, but blowing a NNE, I imagine the most spectacular conditions would be from a westerly?th
The wind is northerly 99% of time
This was a few years ago. Second wave is awesome

Some photos of a few places on the North Island of NZ where we have been able to wildcamp and the last few photos were taken en route.
Temperatures in the high 20s and very humid so having to sleep with the door and windows open. The Thetford fridge/freezer is not coping very well. Beers are warm! Haven’t had warm beer since we left the UK.
