A photo of the day thread

Were the lanes narrow to it, please?
Only for a mile, with passing places. We are used to them as we drive in and out of them in our Devon village. We drove through Barnstaple via Braunton.

please send pics of the roof tops sounds like the seaside cottages here that are painted in pastels
I went to take some photos for you and discovered that my camera is broken. (Now I know what to ask for from Santa) I have found a few pictures from elsewhere that hopefully illustrate the colourful roofing iron. Corrugated iron was commonly used up to the 1950s and nearly always in either green or brown, then pressed steel became popular and you could have almost any colour you wanted. Since the early 2000s grey has been the most popular colour and now it's Henry Ford black, black or black.

We visited Nantes today and had to see the mechanical elephant. About 35ft high it was packed with passengers for its walk across the square.

We will be returning tomorrow to see the rest of the mechanical animals and to visit the parts of the old town that we didn’t manage to fit in today.

Nantes has some interesting areas to visit and a great public transport system with a tram stop just outside our campsite. €5 per person for an all day ticket and free at weekends. The U.K. could learn how to promote public transport. At home we have one bus per hour with the last one leaving at 6:20pm.

Walked through Morthoe to Woolacombe on a lovely day, pictures of Lundy, seen in the distance, Woolacombe beach and Mort Point

namwaldog would there have been any reason why you could not wildcamp at that spot where you had lunch on the B797 at Mennock Pass. It looks beautiful and peaceful.

There was evidence of campfires so I would imagine loads of wildcampers do use it.

The only reason we didn't it is that we have a very fretful daughter who worries if she can't get in touch with us when we are away.
Talk about Role Reversal!!
There was no mobile signal on any of the three carriers we use.
Beatiful spot. We spent an hour watching a couple of (unidentified) raptors riding the thermals.
Margaret was tempted to do a wild swim in the river but it was very shallow with no pools of any size.

Paddle boarding in Elie . Paddled into the harbour just as this landed in the water.
Thankfully it was empty. The owner was on the quayside looking rather shocked.
