Just a hot stroll today. Up to the moor and back. A bit of snow but quite grey and misty. Roads not bad quite useable. Nobody getting stuck or sliding around.

Today its getting rather silly!

At 15 years old I joined the army on January 6th 1963, the 'big dig' winter! The train ran on time from Paddington to Chepstow, Gloucestershire. I stood in the cookhouse queue at 6.00 am the following morning carrying my newly issued plate and mug. My fried egg was slapped onto my plate and it froze there while the baked beans developed a nice crust...

It’s just about eight miles from me. So a good walk. I don’t often do it as I prefer the moor but every so often it makes a change.
The mill now has some apartments in it. We’d call them flats but they call them apartments. Just a shame the boathouse bar isn’t open as a pint would have been very welcome.
The cafe in the park opposite is good (if it's open due to covid) it's also a good mid-way point for my "flat" day ride.

Aaaaah! Those were the days before the ”wrong sort of snow” used to bring the railway network grinding to a halt, the only brand of baked beans was Heinz and Chepstow was in Gloucestershire.

This section of the Leeds Liverpool canal had to be moved when building the bypass. Apparently it cost more to move this section that it did to build the whole of the canal.

Where were these photos taken, please?

Woke up to this, just spent 3 hrs shovelling and cleaning the panels. Some are frozen, I have to clean again. Two days ago had a bit of sun and warm snow gone just to be replaced.

On a not very productive ride home from mh storage yesterday, ready to throw in the towel, came across these in the narrow, rough farm lane... :)
