A photo of the day thread

Another one from one of our daily walks.

Looking east along the Bristol Channel with the island of Steep Holme in the distance.

Taken last night. About 400 images, each taken 30 seconds apart then all combined in the free program Star Stax. Not perfect by any means as the trick is to get the interval and exposure just right so the movement of the stars is continuous and not as a series of dots as I've got them. :)
If you look very closely there is an aircraft, possibly a satellite and a meteor I think. I must try again the next time clear skies are forecast. The Lyrid meteors would be worth trying this method on. They start tonight but won't peak until 21/22 April.

Excellent shots, which lens is that you have bought, what body are you using?

Camera body is Canon 7D mk11, Lens is Sigma 150-600 mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM.

Also have a 7D Mk1, both excellent cameras I prefer these cropped sensor cameras rather than the full frame.

Walk through the woods today. No I never fell down just a different angle to look at trees.

This is how Maurice de Sully found how to make Notre Dame arches stand so high. Just by looking at the trees meeting in some sort of central point.
