Sorry, it's been a busy day
Had to clean the pool and fix the brakes on 2 bikes. Then road test them. Long walk with dog, which does go past a bar or 2Busy, Busy, I thought you were living the high life over there.
Our pitch for tonight is on the Derwent Reservoir on the Durham/Northumberland border just off the A68 at Consett.
There ar two other overnight stays as well as this provided by Northumbria Water.
The other two are on Search for Sites, this one isn't. All three are £10 per overnight.
The other two have toilet facilities, this one doesn't but the gate off the road is locked at night.View attachment 318645View attachment 318646

Is that someone emptying their cassette down by the reservoir...?
Pardon my ignorance, but what is 106% inclination ? I thought 90 was vertical. The Gelmerbahn was the steepest funicular in Switzerland and Europe, until the opening of the new Stoos Funicular in 2017. With an inclination of up to 106%, originally built to transport the heavy construction materials for the Gelmer dam constructed in 1926 it is nowadays open to the public. In a blink, the funicular makes its way to the Gelmer valley 1860 meter above sea level.
You are correct YorickPardon my ignorance, but what is 106% inclination ? I thought 90 was vertical.
Angle percentage and angle of degrees are very different. Divide the height increase by the length and X by 100 = percentage. E.G. a 10m height gain over 100M is an incline of 10%Pardon my ignorance, but what is 106% inclination ? I thought 90 was vertical.
Google was not my friend on this occasionPaul and Kate To work out the 106 Degree angle you need to start with 180 degrees as flat and count back! It's confusing I know but 106 is actually 16 degrees from vertical, which is 90 degrees. As an example 135 degrees is actually only a bend of 45 degrees. Hope this helps LOL.
But we are not talking Degrees. We are talking percentage.Paul and Kate To work out the 106 Degree angle you need to start with 180 degrees as flat and count back! Now that 106% has been sorted ??? when we got to the top this was the stunning man made lake which we hiked around. Took about 3hrs with a lunch stop.View attachment 319314View attachment 319315View attachment 319316View attachment 319317View attachment 319318View attachment 319319View attachment 319320View attachment 319321View attachment 319323View attachment 319324View attachment 319325
