I'm just reading a Donna Leon novel set in Venice, I've never been so those photos have helped me see what the characters are seeing - good timing The Searle, and lovely photos too - which square is your second picture please?

The square is the entrance to SAN Marco from the Grand Canal

Just given my feathered friends some extra treats in this weather.

Is site fully open , used to shut off amenities and allow parking? Can you overnight? Thanks in advance.
John
John I wasn't using the site, just visiting the Christmas Festival at the hotel, so I'm afraid I don't know.
According to the website they closed Oct 15th but I have a vague feeling that they allow overnighting, and then use of some facilities at the hotel? - I have seen mh's on the site later than 15/10.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Couple of years ago you could stay overnight , but no facilities. Think even the water was turned off. Terrific views through 360 degrees from campsite.
Hopefully the snow on the roads ws soft and not too deep. After Glencoe , Skye is my next favourite place. Really getting too busy in the summer though. Now is the time to go , so jealous of your journey.
Thanks for your reply.

The roads were fine thanks, well gritted so just a bit slushy.
Quite funny really - I'm wanting to get OFF the island to go to a birthday meet near Dumfries, but I'm not prepared to brave the A82 in this weather! :shake:

Not quite the ugly duckling?

Saw lots of those painted pigeons from the Alcazaba in Almeria a few years ago, presume they are coloured by the pigeon fanciers for identification, also seen some similar at Vila Real de Santo Antonio in Portugal, look quite spectacular when there are a few of them in flight.

Parked up on a nice little Aire a few miles south of Tours. Had planned to move further south today but was blowing a hoolie this morning so thought we'd stay another night.
Emma's been doing some knitting so thought I'd give it a go. Don't know how people can do it without even looking, I'm exhausted from all the concentration.
