A photo of the day thread

@easy Ian I have uploaded drone photos to your searchforsites website. Is it permissible for me to upload videos?

I don't actually know but I don't think so.
That would be the best way for videos is to add them to youtube and then link to that, otherwise you get into all sorts of problems with file formats and compatibility issues. If you need guidance just ask.

Wonderful light streaming in to light up these gold paintings

Is that HDR, RAW or both? If that's a straight Jpeg from camera then it's very nicely done.

Thank you, yes, searchforsites is my own website - just trying to make it easy to find stopovers and campsites
Hi Easy

I've been looking at your site as someone recommended it to me....it's great and so easy to use! Thank you (y)

Have you anymore vids of your drone footage, the couple you've shared on here are brilliant.

Thanks
Kirstee

Hi @Kirstee thanks for that, glad you find it easy to use - that's why I built it. I do have a couple of additional videos and drone photos which I will add

I have just ordered a drone from Very a Phantom 3 for just under £400 (as I am a new customer I got 10% discount) just waiting for delivery
Georges fault
Get extra batteries as well if not already done so

Photos taken when in Spain from the Cross
This took a lot of effort to get there resulting in a long rest next day but the sunset was well worth it

Not too bad, but maybe not one for the squeamish and Joy (y)

@DuxDeluxe you may like it though Dave

A bad day for the pigeon, just glad it wasn't my robin, yesterday morning in our garden, I must say if I was big enough to do it I wouldn't bother with sparrows, even if I was a sparrow hawk, I bet the family couldn't believe their luck :)

Really loving the drone photos.

Are there legal restrictions anywhere in mainland Europe?

My plan is to go full-time next year..ish and document my travels. I have the Photos and Video side of things sorted but I can't think of a better way than a drone, to get some amazing footage of places like the west coast of Norway.

Drone (or aerial photography) does give a completely new perspective on a location but yes there are restrictions (and likely to be even more) but each country is different and wherever you go you will get people who spout privacy laws etc who have no idea - ie you do not need permission to take someone's photograph in a public place.

As much as I want one, and will most likely get one, I do see them as, potentially, a blight on society over the next 10-15 years.
I think the sky will be dark with them and we're just waiting for the first death as a result.

Government's first reaction should have been to demand an operator license, to give them time to see where the tech was heading.

I'm quite nervous about hundreds of 5lb objects whizzing about at 40mph, at 500ft (Actually the height I'm more worried about them flying at is 5' 11")

can't take the credit for taking this but you can just see our almost son in laws feet underneath the aircraft. Now back safe and sound after months of being somewhere very hot and dusty.

While I like the perspective that filming from a drone gives, I do think it is only time before we hear of an injury or worse caused either directly or indirectly by a drone.

The question I always ask those flying drones is who their public liability insurers are. The answers range from "drones don't need insurance" through to "the household contents insurance covers it".

I have yet to speak to someone who tells me they have specific public liability insurance for flying a drone.
