Only registered users can see it. But if you are worried, be very vague about the position. The map is only there to give us all a general idea of where we all live, not a detailed one. And it will only show you if you have entered a recognisable place in the Map Location field making it easy to opt out or lie. :)

For anyone worried about using a location which is too accurate, just open Google maps, click on a location far enough away, copy the Latitude/Longitude and use that as your Map Location.

I just changed that because the postcode I used belongs to somebody else's house and you never know they might become a Funster some time in the future :)

The latitude/longitude I have used is for the car park which I use as Home in sat navs.

Well yet again I'm living up to my family nic name of "user error" the map shows me living at the local golf course:eek:

And @Mr Mousy either has a second family in a retail park 25miles away or is trying to tell me something

It's because he knows how much you like to shop, so he thought it would save time if he moved there permanently.:rofl:

I am probably going to send the next few weeks before I go off to Iraq working out how to do it

Works well for me. I was listed as dorset, so shared a location. changed that to the first 4 letters and numbers of my postcode and now shows my general area

I got mine bang on the house.....unfortunately, according to Google, it's the wrong house.
Google flag us as Ness House (a business head office) which is 200Mtrs south of us.

Only two houses here...how can they get it so wrong.

If any scroat wants to trawl the members map, when it's available to all and sundry, to find where we live on the off chance the house will be empty at the time then good luck to them.
There seems to be a lot of paranoia about this facility.

Most often businesses add themselves to the maps so it probably won't be anything to do with Google. I think you can report flags that are wrongly located.

Believe me Jim, Tony next door will have complained big time if the flag wasn't pointing at his office desk....he's a pedant for accuracy.

Just put mine on fine. As usual the postcode not totally accurate but close enough (y)

I have just added my location, how do I view the map

Put my location (post code) into preferences last night, checked after an hour and nothing.
Checked about an hour ago, still nought.
What am I doing wrong. Again!

If you are worried about using a location which is too accurate, use a location some distance away as I described in post #64.

That's me in the pub then! :drink:
