A Funster Map

I live in the RH10 postcode area, North East Sussex. Is that sufficient for the purposes of the map?

I guess some members might be reluctant to give greater location accuracy, raising security issues for their MH and when away from home for extended periods.

Edit, I see Janine has just raised the same issue.

I've found my pin on the map. As I've only put "Plympton" in as a location that's where it shows me, which is close enough. There are only four houses at my postcode so I don't want it that accurate otherwise the thieves will be able to find our house when we are away and posting about our travels on here. :)

According to the map I'm in USA, bloody cold here in LA though.

Edit. Changed my location to postcode, all good now.

I suspect the large number of other folk also showing in the USA are the same. There is a Lancaster in Pennsylvania so I guess that's the one it has gone for. A bit like the story on the news last week about the lady who rang the police in Barnstaple, USA because she asked her phone to doing the calling.

Just a thought but if we pinpoint our location accurately and then start a thread saying we are in France for 3 weeks, maybe there might be a bit of a security issue with our home?

I clicked in Google Maps on a car park half a mile away from our house (the one I use as Home on sat navs) and entered the post code that came up for that. It's close enough for the map purpose but no security compromise.

That's better with the Read Only out of the picture. Mine came up spot on in West Lynn but when I added a second location as we could on the old version I've disappeared from the UK. :(
It's working even better than expected then ;)

A few houses out but close enough, I see I've left the motorhome step out again:rolleyes:

If some one could insert me, I would be grateful... cos I can`t.. :swear2:

Nobody else can update your profile Mo.

Look at the right of the dark blue menu bar at the top of the screen, hover over old-mo to the left of Inbox and Alerts then click on Personal Details (second down in the left column in the pop-up box).
Then put the postcode in the Map Location field and click on Save Changes.

Set my map location as my GP surgery - instantly added.
Will the map be 'searchable'?

:thanks3: Cheers, @GJH ....

Took a while....

But only a red "Blob"... :crying1:

Hover the cursor over the red blob and it should show your forum name.
What happens after that I dunno...

i may have put my postcode on the map but didn't say my van was parked there!

But even if you're not saying "here's my van, please take it" you're maybe still saying "I'm off on my hols now - please burgle my house"
Take care folks!

Looking good here too Jim.

Only comment is that is slow to populate,... But the kids are home from school soaking up all the village broadband capacity swapping nude pictures of themselves on Faceache and Snapchat.

It is pulling in a lot of data so it will be a bit slow. Takes about 5 seconds for me

Looking at Eastbourne (for example) as you zoom in, the map says 11 members, but zooming in closer, only 3 pins appear.

8 of those members are read only, I've hidden their pins as there is so many of them, the pins you do see will be subscribers. Life Members are showing up with red pins.

You can be as accurate or as vague as you like. Your street address or just name a town, city or county (y)

I've put my postcode. Nobody can identify which house is mine just from that and the motorhome doesn't live there so I'm not unduly worried.

All good Jim, red blob in centre of town, close enough, but there are no bars near that junction so hardly a true reflection of where I live

Well yet again I'm living up to my family nic name of "user error" the map shows me living at the local golf course:eek:

And @Mr Mousy either has a second family in a retail park 25miles away or is trying to tell me something

I can only see a red target for Scotland with 174 Fun's tees.

Is this cos I'm on a phone?

No, but if you are looking to see where a Funster lives just click on their avatar, then go to their profile page. There is now a Map tab that will show you where they live (if they have added anything to the location fields)
