Hi everyone
We are currently parked at Shrewsbury after fitting in what seems like a week of things into 1 day.
The list includes

A meeting in Manchester
A site visit and measure in manchester
A pick up of wheel studs from a trailer company in Chester
A supermarket top up of silly things food wise which are sometimes difficult to find in continental Europe.
A filling at the dentist in Middlewich
A missed delivery of a new rim for a trailer
A conversation with rim supplier as the DHL app won't work
A conversation with farmer Jeff where I store some trailers, he's going to swap my tyre and fit the new rim (great relief)
2 pints of delicious Butty Bach beer In a local pub near to our sleepy spot
A well needed meal at Hickorys smokehouse
Waking up 2 hours ago thinking to myself I hope DHL find the farm/storage next time

Not too bad a start but it did seem as we deserved the beer and food last night, it should be a decent drive today to the camc site next to Folkestone.
We are looking forward to this trip as it seems we have been in the uk too long over this summer.
This was due to family time which is always nice and a bit of dental work that was overdue.
We decided to use the chunnel which does seem to have gotten quite pricy but when I gave Phil the options he insisted on tunnel even when I would have been happy with irish ferries.
Looking forward to a easy time in france with no set path just sticking to the east side as we are off to Dusseldorf salon to view electric bikes and other bits we need.
We may call into Luxembourg as its been over 5 years since we where last there and possibly the mosel region again, not sure we will see where the wind blows.

I forgot how beautiful and fantastic this city is.
We had a good mooch about and just picked a random restaurant.
It was delightful, 1 1/2 bottles of wine, water, three courses of food plus coffee came in at €87 not including the tip.
Such a marked improvement on the food after germany.
Don't get me wrong we love to visit any country but france can edge forward with regard to cuisine (as long as you figure out your eating times to correspond to the French limited times).

Since 2013
We have just arrived in the French city of Nancy.
Staying right in the city at the only aire in the city right next to the canal. Unfortunately we are roadside not canal side but if it gets into walking distance for the city centre we are happy.
We stayed there too, after reading other Funsters recommendations.

A beautiful city, stunning architecture and a lovely vibe.

We never seem to find gorgeous restaurants like you do though!

When we visited this aire in Nancy last time it was when we had our 9m eura mobile tag axle motorhome, this time we are in our 8.2m length morelo and we barely fit in the space.
We must have been very lucky and the harbour master who runs these spots obviously took pity on us (newbies at the time) and squeezed us in.
Even though we are parked on the roadside we both had a great night's sleep, ready for a little shopping I think.
Although we are in the lovely situation where we don't need anything and we have a long term policy of 1 in 1 out with regards to clothes and shoes.
However I did see some interesting deli shops yesterday, it may be a upsetting day for the wallet.

We are booked in for lunch at the Brasserie L'excelsior.
We did dine in this stunning art decor restaurant last time, I remember having a wonderful Dover sole done in a classic French way which is just basically grilled with butter and served with lemon and sometimes capers, if this is not available I'm sure I can find something to our tastes.
You don't see many classic restaurants with the French brigade style of service I just hope the quality is still there.

If my memory serves me well, have dined at one of these in Reims earlier this year… it was a great Brasserie luncheon, their equivalent of a plat de jour…. 😋

Edit: Just looked on the website, Paris, Reims Nancy so it must be it! Enjoy!!

We had a look around a local indoor food market before lunch but found the prices to be very expensive so didn't pick any bits and bobs up.
Quick visit to a church before lunch.
Lunch was spectacular in food quality, the ambience, the buiding and yet they were so busy we had a disjointed service even though the staff are professional,

We are now undecided where to go for the weekend, I did see this lake area (Lac de dur) which is apparently Europe's largest man made lake.
I reckon the bike riding would be good.
Any other suggestions, we would like to have a boozy sunday using camping behaviour.

We went to Lac du Der earlier this year. It is a large lake and at one end there is a casino. The area around the casino is not tatty or anything, but we felt was all a bit like an English town centre on a Saturday night. Lots of shirts off, drinking and a couple of fights. Away from there it is very nice and also very quiet.

We would go back but further away from the amusement area, but we would go stocked up, I don't think there was much around.

It is supermarket day tommorow as the unfortunate has occurred, I have ran out of beer argh.
I'm just looking if there's better options, we may head into Troyes sometime and we have stayed at the big lake near to Troyes, however as its free the aire there is always very full.

Troyes is fab, have you been to Beaune? Good for wine and food, probably not enough for a whole weekend though.
