90 in 180 France maybe concessions

My understanding is that an EU national can be inside the Schengen area for an unlimited period but if a stay in one country exceeds that countries registration/residency rules, normally 3 months, then registration or residency must be applied for.
The same rules apply to UK nationals with residency rights under the withdrawal agreement.
as was mine, but it isnt actually enforced, so was largely ignored

What do they do with the thousands of illegal immigrants camped at Calais when they have been there over 90 days. Nowt.

I imagine if you were to turn up there with nothing but the clothes you are wearing and are prepared to live under a ripped tarpaulin, you could too could benefit from the perceived lack of enforcement and stay for as long as you liked.

They are the ones that will throw out your bacon sarnies Jock.
Not if I've scoffed them all before leaving the Canterbury Aire, to catch the train Jim.

Cheers,

Jock. ;)

The 90/180 day rule led to us selling our French base last year. It just concentrated the mind that it was time to move on.

If arrangements are made to allow U.K. citizens to stay longer we will simply travel more.

Are you going to change your user name to 'house' or maybe 'bungalow' .... :giggle:

Why does the UK not apply to join Schengen? Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Lichtenstein are in Schengen but not EU.

Can one be a Schengen member for free travel but not for work nor settlement?

Just occured to me is the 90/180 rule a Schengen or an EU rule? I.E can one stay in Norway for more than 90 days(if you are rich)? I know that land-locked countries like Switzerland Lichtenstein and Andorra have agreements that stays in their country are included in the 90 days.
