3 Days or be sprayed!

I suppose they think if they leave it three days it will be clear, which it probably would.
But then do you have to leave it another three days for it to be clear for you.
Yes.& then how do you know it has actually been left empty for 3 days?
Just thinking my van was in for a cambelt yesterday and a clutch master cylinder so mechanic was in van a few times and took it for a test drive ....dont think they sprayed anything.
Your in Scotland, different rules in Scotland .
What is this spray anyway? I am sure I read somewhere that cabbies had some kind of canister that they 'let off' in the cab then left it to do its stuff. Is it a similar process for motorhomes?

supposed to be the best.

Quite depressing reading this thread - at the level of concern shown at leaving a vehicle with a dealer/mechanic.
Apart from the actual virus the amount of plastic and chemicals used alone to 'combat' it will create problems for us for years to come.
The anxiety shown will no doubt shorten lives.
The economy damaged for decades - for us and our childrens and grand childrens.
Taking reasonable steps will help - the rest wont
None of which would have happened if everyone had a mainly vegetarian diet and corporates etc did not just plunder the environment. The new frontier is deep sea mining, David Attenborough calls for ban on 'devastating' deep sea mining and you know what, I think he is right......

Had a dash cam hard wired into the car a couple of weeks ago,was told unfortunately we will have to sterilise the inside before we can work on it. Will take a day or so for the smell to clear. No extra charge. That was Halfords

It’s not a mindset across the board I can assure you.

My firm treasures it’s staff and would be stuffed without them.

So far ( touch wood) we haven’t had to lay any off and despite a radical fall in revenue haven’t introduced pay cuts either.

It‘s tough and it’s tight but the last thing our staff are is dispensable. On the contrary.
I know it isn't across the board but its still something that happens and even more so in recent times.

My sister went to buy a newish BMW from the main agent that had been used by a smoker - they tried fogging it twice - failed

So what guarantees against Covid?
If it is that bad, it would need steaming, seats, carpets and headlining. fogging works very well with most biological smells

Brian, don't be so tight, just get it done ........ :ROFLMAO:

Johns Cross down our way also require a 3 day in advance period, or did when I checked them a few weeks ago. No mention of a spray alternative.

We have MOT and damp check booked into Becks in November. Can't have the 3 days so will have to pay if it is still ongoing. The day before we are booked into Alde to get the heating serviced and the day after we are booked in to SAP to have the levelling system serviced. We are getting our services oooop norf all done in one visit.
Cheers Peter  ... It's not really the £10  but being asthmatic I'm cautious of chemical sprays and I don't want the hassle of multi return trips.

In fact as the MOT has been rescheduled for November due to C-19 it suits us better to have everything done in one go later in the year.

I hope you are both keeping well and look forward to catching up with you sometime soon.

I'm cautious of chemical sprays
I had a family rent our apartment for a week.after booking the lady asked if I could remove all & every type of chemical or spray ,air freshners ,washing powders, soaps, etc, etc, Which I did. Then I had to reclean the place using water only.
She had some sort of allergy to any type of chemicals & was being studied down in Almeria city for 12 months .Fortunately her husband could relocate & work from home as they lived in Germany

Fortunately Gus I'm not that bad but don't like to take chances.

I have serious breathing problems with aerosol air fresheners, and dry cleaners. But after an hour venting, have been fine using a vehicle after the air con has been cleaned that way.

Business have various strategies to deal with virus. Motorhome dealers seem to be split between those wanting 3 days for virus to die and those who use sprays. Essentially now part of their terms of business, clients who don’t like them are free to go elsewhere. Our car had a warning light on dashboard, main dealer wanted £150 to plug into diagnostics our usual small garage charged nothing. The choice was mine. Virus has not gone away, despite many people’s wishes, October could be just as bad or worse

I am glad that you don't speak for me, our reputation is excellent, we don't advertise, we don't do shows except the NEC and we always have a waiting list and a full order book

Because of our staff

Well paid, well looked after, well thought of and well treated and MUCH more important than a customer that doesn't understand or knows better than the guidance given by the Government and liberally mixed with common sense.
I couldn’t agree with you more, having run my own service based company I know exactly how important your staff are. Apart from anything else you have a moral responsibility to look after their well-being. I can’t believe the number of utterly selfish responses that have been posted on this thread.
Spongy

We recently had a hab service. The dealer wanted the van and all cupboards etc completely empty. The only thing left was the mattress

Thiswas to enable them to sanitise it before and after work

we took it as an opportunity to have a good clear out and spring clean
Oh hell  ... ours is going in for its hab in October ... the thought of emptying it all out and trying to store it whilst it's there fills me with dread ... hubby'll have a fit! 😱

They've also agreed to do all the work (hab and warranty) in one day due to the distance we have to travel ... hmmmmm ... looks like that might 'not' happen!

We had service and hab check booked at SMC mid July. They Put two guys on it and did both simultaneously. Sanitised van before and after. There at 7.45am finished by 12.30. Only problem was summer in Newark, 13 degrees windy occasional rain. Would have been hypothermia except for Morrison’s cafe

Good on the company for providing the spray/fog machine option.
Much prefer using companies that keep themselves and their customers safe.

When we ran our business we never did"offers" or advertised . If you attract people because you are a couple of quid cheaper when you are a couple of quid dearer they will go somewhere else. It's the same at the moment if you are covid careless to try and avoid charging a bit more there will be people who go somewhere else as long as enough want to keep coming to you why worry. I think its also a bit like the economy in general places that are careless will sooner or later either have ill staff or customers or both. They must be either financially desperate for short term income, think it's a hoax or just not be very clever. I don't know what's in the"special" treatment sprays though I'm always a sceptic!

On that basis what they are charging for disinfection is a bargain if they are using it as directed it would need the home one with a higher cost price than what they're charging given the volume of a motorhome and a whole can per use. Makes me wonder if they've been doing a proper job. Also as others have said I wonder if they are offering people the service of disinfecting on handing back (at a similar cost)

Just got back from a trip to Brownhills for some warranty work on the van. Stayed there two nights. Van sprayed before they did the work and again when they brought it back (we stay in their overnight area) advised to wait 15mins before getting back in van. No extra charge for spraying.

As Eddievanbitz has stated they are looking after their most valuable asset, the employee, I wouldn't want to work for a company that didn't do the same and look after me. £10 in my book is fair.

just fascinates me why I can buy the same nitrile gloves here for 5,20€ per hundred & masks for 35€/100?
can't be that much dearer to supply in the UK?
