2strokes

Me too ........ it was an improvement on my first road bike - a Tiger Cub.

The Tiger Cub was the bike that I was looking for, didn't realise that my Captain was better.

The bike that I really craved was Royal Enfield Crusader Sports but out of my price range, did have a RE Constellation for a short while later, not been on a bike for over 30 years, doubt that I ever will again:(

Royal Enfield being made again saw some in a bike shop in Chichester a few weeks ago. I think the smell was Castrol R.

An Indian company have been producing the Bullet for quite a few years. And we have been importing them.

My first bike was a Yamaha YL1 - twin 100cc. It sounded like you were being chased by a swarm of wasps but I loved that little bike ... they go for silly money now otherwise I might have been tempted to get one and relive my "yoof" ... :)

My mate is just restoring one!

Trouble is trying to obtain parts for these bikes, some of the restored ones are worth more when broken for spares.
Before eBay spares were cheap and plenty about now stupid prices,
3k for exhaust 1k for a seat! That's if you can find them...

Just adore 2 strokes you need to try a TZ750 just a thing that makes you grin, On the road though the most exiting I rode was the RG250 Gul-Arm rear end, I was disappointed when I rode the RD 500 the 350LC was better value RG 500 was OK but for grin factor the RG250 hands down(y)

A friend of mine back in the day learn't on a kawasaki 400 triple with 250 side panels on it.......he came off of course!

The TZ 750 was in an outfit, I forgot I rode a TZ250 as well which was fun (y)

Always fancied a go on a TZ 750, on my list of lotto purchases:)
See a K Roberts one for sale a few years back, no price on it though..

Seems that everyone I know who have had an RD500 have not been to impressed with them, there are some nice specials about with R1 or R6 front and rear ends and Tiga body kits(y)

Many moons ago, Padgetts of Bagley bought Schwants title winning RG500.

My best mate, Dave Crampton rode it for them in the Euro 500 series.

He took it to Cadwell for us to play on. I was still winning club races, but after 4 laps I came in.
That was scary.

We were in Tamariu yesterday when I spotted a Montessa Impala. Absolutely original, not concours. Simplicity personified. A while later we were walking through the back streets when I heard the unmistakeable sound of an older 2 stroke, wouldn't tick over, needed to keep revving it but nevertheless, sublime. The little Montessa came up the narrow street with the sound resonating between the houses.

I had a GT750 handled like a camel, ;) it was cheaper to use the car, when I sold it the purchaser was on the back ........ gave it some stick had his legs up my armpits  he had to have it ! :ROFLMAO:

I have always preferred a roar to a screem. Bob.

I used to have a RD250, years ago, it was original-no modifications.
o!

Me too! I had such a lot of fun on it. I think every road bike owner would benefit from spending a weekend on one of these. Used to scare myself silly though i seem to remember! Happy days.

Haha. I did exactly the same. I had a GPZ 750 and I put a four into two micron exhaust on it and it sounded like a bloody Manx Norton! Took the new buyer out for a run and exactly the same thing happened - had his feet up under my arms. I bloody loved that bike I did.

I had a YDS7 in the early 70s, I remember having to have the rear wheel respoked on two occasions, it seemed as though the wheel just wasn't strong enough for the power going to it. Another thing I remember was it wasn't particularly economical, we had a Triumph Spitfire as well at the time and got more mpg out of that than the Yammy.

Maybe not quite the same way when on the back of an XT500 though :D
