2nd honeymoon...

IMG_0497.JPG

We left Garda in sunshine, travelled an hour across the lake to Salo and found it cloudy and cold!
IMG_0500.JPG

Still very pretty, probably more "arty" than Garda or Bardolino.

IMG_0509.JPG

Saw this beautiful cake and it reminded us of our daughters wedding. They are loving Sri Lanka..amazing scenery and lots of elephants.
IMG_0511.JPG

Finally found some underware....for Martin! Lol
IMG_0512.JPG

I'd love to tow this behind the moho for Fun meets.
IMG_0515.JPG

Do you think this bird is selling cos it's expecting?
IMG_0520.JPG

Salo from the boat, some lovely lake side villa's, we've worked out that it's the lack of umbrellas that show you it's not a hotel.
IMG_0526.JPG

Either a storm is coming or the blanket is polyester..millie is static.

Thanks again for the blog and photos loving the humour ! Not sure about the top half for Martin but the pants could look good!!;)

Lovely, lovely travel log. Sorry about your fall and the fetching black eye. You wear it well......and I love Millie.

Gosh John I can remember her doing that, so glad she is well now but that's a long time to be sorted.
I'm sure I remember Eddie (judgemental) falling off his bike at Lake Garda and hurting his leg.
I'm going to be extra careful from now on!
Lake Garda had it in for me too Dawn. Our first trip in our new van in 2015 and as I got out of the drivers door I twisted my left ankle making it difficult to drive . I then got Cellulitis from a mozzie bite and had to get antibiotics

a sucker with a bull dog clip is perfect for campsite or aire tickets.
(y)(y)

That Pizza looks wonderful!!!
You took the words from my mouth Anthea

I hear going commando is very liberating!!!
And again..................... and yes it is

Finally found some underware....for Martin! Lol
:rofl::rofl:

Martin looks good in pink, but I think the red is a step too far..... Loving the photos and thread. Millie looks chilled and has lost that 'worried' expression. Your eye is looking better by the day. But still no photos of gelato......

Lots of our neighbours have left so we have a lake view.
IMG_0528.JPG

After spending the morning sorting out what was making the van smell of TCP, it was the light fitting in the wardrobe.
IMG_0535.JPG

We rewarded ourselves with a long lunch in Bardolino, but were too full for ice cream.

IMG_0561.JPG

IMG_0572.JPG

Millie enjoying the very spongy grass.
IMG_0580.JPG

She was tired by home time, easy to forget she's only 6 months and still a bambino.

Another lovely day over, tomorrow we move around the lake to Peschiera del Garda.
We hope to spend Fri and sat there, taking the train into Verona on Saturday. Thinking of then driving to Venice on Sunday.

So far we are liking Italy, the food is gorgeous, the lake is beautiful and the weather overall has been good. We have yet to hear an English accent with most of the other visitors being German and Dutch.
Diesel in Italy is averaging at €1.38 in France it was €1.19.
Italy is more expensive than France for food both in supermarkets and meals out. Also campsites on the lake are charging anything from €25 - €50 per night! We have asci but it wasn't available over Easter. We hope to move to a asci campsite tomorrow for €17, where we are is €31.50. Probably the most we have ever paid.
We are both feeling very chilled and are really enjoying ourselves but I'm missing the kids and Cliff and Ger..
Caio til tomorrow.

I love Millie's bandana

Thanks, I thought the grey offset her ginger quite nicely and of course the pink compliments her tongue

Ciao bella.

Ciao bella.
It's just perfect for her colouring. #goodchoice.

We resisted moving off today as the weather is so lovely we want to enjoy it for as long as we can.
We cycled along to Garda again and I happily found the market was on. It was set up all along the lake front.

IMG_0591.JPG

IMG_0592.JPG

Another sunny day but it can be cold when the wind picks up.
IMG_0594.JPG

Martin was less than happy to find the market..
IMG_0595.JPG

I managed to resist...I must be poorly!
IMG_0597.JPG

IMG_0601.JPG

We (I) wanted to buy some lemoncello but was put off by these "interesting" shaped bottles

IMG_0603.JPG

We settled on coffee and people watching but I did persuade Martin to purchase 2 salad bowls.
IMG_0606.JPG

We are still rubbish at taking selfies :D

What no pashmina! :Eeek: Ger will be disappointed!!

Garda this morning, a huge market on the lake side with lots and lots of high quality goods all apparently made in Italy.! We escaped lightly thank goodness with two salad bowls.

The view down the river was beautiful, the market was not.

If I'de been there, I bet Dawn would have bought the taupe one the lady is pointing at, and we'de have fought over the two blue ones sixth and seventh ones down..... ;) Not sure I want any mandarino when we visit though.......

We moved on to Peschiera
IMG_0621.JPG

And found a campsite on the lake with a nice easy walk into the old town.

IMG_0634.JPG

IMG_0636.JPG

Of course we had to have an ice cream.

A walk up onto the fortifications provided a nice view

Saw this and thought what a good game for the Moho but not for €24!

IMG_0655.JPG

Saw a view of these boats being propelled by them standing and rowing upright. Made us think of Venice.

A lovely sunset from our pitch to end another good day.

@Mousy. Dawn & Martin,

At this time last year, Rita and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Garda, at Camping Cappuccini, on the same lake side. We did the ferry trips back and forth across the lake, and although hot enough for us during the day, at night, it did get too cold to sit out.

Rita and I hope that you are both enjoying the trip so far. (y)

Thanks for taking the time to post. :)

Jock. :)

A lovely sunset from our pitch to end another good day.

The view from your pitch looks beautiful - well picked! Lovely photos - which flavour gelato did you have, and I hope Millie had a scoop from the end of your cone....

Can't believe, in the absence of Pashminas, you didn't but the Mousy Chinese Chequers - I'm disappointed in you....;)

Continue having a wonderful time and love to Eminem xx

@cliffandger i went for cherry and Martin had pistachio...in a tub so sadly millie missed out there.

Yesterday we tried being intrepid...we rode our bikes 5 mins to the train station and purchased 3 tickets to Verona. The ticket machines had an English option and was very easy to use. The dog was free and we up graded to 1st class so €5.40 each single. The station was spotless, with plenty of seats to wait for the train which arrived on time. (So unlike home..)
We didn't notice a massive difference between the classes so could have saved €2 but hay we are on our honeymoon!

IMG_0681.JPG

We arrived after 15 minutes in Verona and for €2 caught a bus into the old centre.

IMG_0683.JPG

IMG_0684.JPG

Not sure if they are rebuilding this or knocking it down
IMG_0688.JPG

Verona was again very busy, maybe Italy is busy and we've spent too long living in Wales?!

We followed the crowds, Martin constantly either trying to read descriptions from the lonely planet guide or trying to log our location on goggle earth...

IMG_0690.JPG

IMG_0697.JPG

IMG_0704.JPG

After about half an hour I must confess we were both bored...as Martin said "it's just more old stuff" I think I'm married to a philistine!

IMG_0711.JPG

We wandered off the tourist track and found some peace by the river, by now my sprained ankle was playing up.

IMG_0715.JPG

We thought this nice but not quite as impressive as the bridge in Paris.

IMG_0722.JPG

We think Geraldine's breastfeeding Madonna may have been in there...€17 each to get in and no dogs means we will never find out..

IMG_0723.JPG

Verona is very pretty and similar to Rome, you keep falling over history without really trying.

IMG_0724.JPG

This courtyard held the cathedral bell which cracked in 2003.

After a very tiring day we were grateful to return home, we enjoyed Verona and it was fascinating, worth a trip if you are this way but with Venice on the horizon for tomorrow an elasticated bandage for my gammy ankle is a must.o_O

Millie had lots of new experiences on her day out, she travelled by bike, train, bus and rucksack...
IMG_0608.JPG

IMG_0732.JPG

IMG_0754.JPG

She's such a good natured little thing it's easy to forget she's still only 6 months old and a bella bambino.

Italians we've discovered absolutely love dogs, she's petted wherever we go but we are surprised at the number of people who have dog biscuits in their pockets but no dogs....What's that all about?!

Lovely photos and Millie looks as cute as ever - hope your ankle isn't too painful. You should know me better than to think I would pay any money to look at a painting - even if it is a medieval fresco - I haven't yet paid any money to see a relic, so a painting has NO chance...... now you've left Garda you will have to be happy with a photo - I give you the Breastfeeding Madonna of Lasize....

Continue having fun on our behalf xxx

Was that a first class train seat? Mr Mousy doesn't look too happy about it! Loving all Millie's accessories. Great pics.

No that was our 2nd class return.

I think that's what our kids call his "resting bitch face" no ideal what it means!

Saw my first ever opera at that Verona amphitheater, very spectacular at night perhaps it's less so in daylight.

Loving the blog... and that dog doesn't half know what side her bread is buttered....
A rucksack carrier , get her walking :D2
