2nd honeymoon...

I didn't dare give you a "like" because of the black eye so you will have to make do with "useful"

Martin

Ooh that looks sore!

Oh Dawn, that looks painful
Take care with the ankle. (y)
Keep the pictures coming it looks lovely there.

Thanks Martin, I could not think what to put. The photos and dialogue are perfect but when I saw the poor girls face I was blown.

Keep them coming Mousy, loving it.

Great pictures looks like your having an up & down time let's hope it smoothes out along the way....(y)

I gave you a "nice one" as if you've got a black eye do it well...

@Mousy. I am enjoying the photos and comments Dawn & Martin.

Sorry to learn about Martin smacking you round the chops your fall causing the swollen eye.

I hope you have a smashing time. (y)

Stay safe,

Jock. :)

Thanks guys, it was actually quite funny really...
My right leg just went from under me but because we were walking down hill I fell on my left side, didn't put my hands out so whacked my left knee, side and face. I basically went down like a sack of s&@t... Or an 80 year old lol.
I'd just let go of Martins hand so he could pick up after Millie, he passed me the lead, next minute I'm on the floor with the dog trying to give me kisses, whilst Martin is panicking with a pooey dog bag on his hand.
A little old Italian couple came and offered help... Actually they could of been saying anything cos we couldn't understand them so I laid there for a bit, gave them double thumbs up and when they went away Martin hauled me up.
We got back to the van and put ice on everything, just glad it wasn't too bad but it makes you realise how quickly things can go wrong and I think because we all travel in our motorhomes which feel so familiar we are lulled into a false sense of security.
We were up a mountain in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country. So I'm viewing this as a lucky escape!
Let's all stay safe fellow Funsters xx

Oh and @Cleve you get blown a kiss for calling me a girl!

Evenings like this make it all worth it..

Glad you haven't suffered anything too serious. Mrs DBK's fall in Spain in 2015 had repercussions which have lasted almost two years. Fortunately, now more or less fully sorted after her bone graft though the recovery from that was also a bit protracted. :)

Gosh John I can remember her doing that, so glad she is well now but that's a long time to be sorted.
I'm sure I remember Eddie (judgemental) falling off his bike at Lake Garda and hurting his leg.
I'm going to be extra carefull from now on!

I am really enjoying following your travels (though not your tumble) hopefully your bruising fades quickly and the sunshine helps. Keep yours and Millie's photos coming and look after your selves. x

Bloody 'ell Dawn you don't do things by halves. Hope you're not in too much pain. The picture looks really bad.

Great blog, keep writing. Sorry about your fall though. :(

Nasty fall & does make one wonder sometimes - but if there is a positive - at least you went ar*e over t*t after the wedding photos, not before

Evening D + M, sorry a bit late to the thread, loving it as ever so far, we were once that blockage in the chunnel, they made a few caravans behind us reverse to the next gap o_Oo_O, we were jump started and possibly still beat some of the reversers off the train :LOL:

Have a great time , looks good so far and so many days still to go :)(y)

D + B xx

Dawn a lovely blog and photos as ever thank you! Sorry about your fall but super news that Martin is now a fully paid up member of the croc club!!
Stay safe.

We have a dog who hates tunnels! In our normal day to day life in Wales this isn't a problem however, on this holiday it's proving to be fraught as we seem to pass through one every 10 minutes. She will be fast asleep, we enter the tunnel and Bang! She's up Barking.

We were glad to arrive at Lake Garda although you've guessed it...it's busy...

First campsite as recommended by Cliff and Ger is full and doesn't take dogs, 2nd campsite a sister site will have places, I feel immense relief as the little Italian receptionist tells me this, but wait "madam no dogs!"
3rd campsite camping continental has places and dogs. Hooray

We set up and appear to be the only English in a sea of German campers. We quickly make friends with those nearest by talking in our bollockanise a mix of French English Italian and German. Yah yah is the extent of our German, luckily everyone has perfect English.

They ask about our Welsh number plate. Is it part of the UK or Europe? Is that why we are left hookers?

He also asks does my husband beat me! Not as odd as it sounds as coming back from our walk yesterday I fell over twisting my ankle and banged up my face. I think I'll be keeping my sunglasses on for the rest of the holiday!

I'm quite pleased that the Germans have an open approach to asking difficult questions around domestic violence.

Top tip for the day, a sucker with a bull dog clip is perfect for campsite or aire tickets.

We've cable tied my old bike basket to the back for millie. I've lined the basket with quilted fabric and her front harness is secured to a clip...(This was added after Martin lost her out the basket on a bend!)

She's quite happy in it as she gets lots of attention from passing people and we now know the word for dog in Italian, Dutch and German.

We cycled into Bardolino but as you can see we've lost the sunshine. We've also realised how typically unprepared we are for this trip. Martin has bought charcoal and the gas fired weed wand to light it with...but left the webber at home  we have no airer for the washing that seems to be growing in the cupboard, no Dvds or films downloaded and we both haven't packed enough pants

IMG_0425.JPG

We finally got to eat some gorgeous Italian food, I had the seafood pasta, Martin a four seasons pizza and Millie got a bowl of water and a dog biscuit!

... but you seem to have plenty of smiles :D

Looks a great trip @Mousy , sorry to hear you about the injury, you can always buy a bigger pair of sunglasses to cover the damage.

no Dvds or films downloaded and we both haven't packed enough pants
I thought you were on a 2nd honeymoon ?:)

That Pizza looks wonderful!!!
Apart from the fungi :sicker: and the black grapes :sicker: @Anthea M

Sorry @Mousy (Dawn & Martin). Rita and I peed ourselves laughing at that.

Cheers,

Jock & Rita. :)

No pants, surely a good excuse to hit the shops, buy a disposable barbecue and reuse it with the charcoal you've brought. Great blog. :)

Mmmmmmmm the seafood pasta looks yummy ! My mouths watering....

Looks like you're having a lovely time - even if the sun has temporarily done a runner.... did you try the gelato? When are you doing a trip on the lake?

Martin may have left his pants at home, but he remembered his crocs - that has to be a step in the right direction!

Continue having fun, but remember us poor devils left at home.... :(

I accidentally broke the blind so Martin had a little job to do... It seemed to involve taking apart half the van...no cushions were thrown in anger...

Millie plum tuckered after her busy day.

IMG_0453.JPG

Today we cycled to Garda, the sun was back.
IMG_0462.JPG

If you really like cycling there are plenty of routes.

IMG_0469.JPG

We took the boat over to Salo. We started out sat outside with millie (you can take dogs and bikes).
IMG_0472.JPG

Because of my black eye I've been working the good hair, sunglasses and lipstick look...
IMG_0476.JPG

What we didn't realise was that whilst we sat enjoying the sunshine the boat was making its way out onto the lake...10 minutes later and we were all suddenly drenched!
IMG_0482.JPG

We quickly ran laughing inside, I realise I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards and I keep forgetting my injury until I see women giving me sympathetic looks!

We arrive in Salo just in time for lunch, 2nd on TripAdvisor again and they are happy for millie to be inside. We stuff her under the table and surreptitiously feed her bread sticks whilst we feast on lunch..

An amuse bouche..
IMG_0493.JPG

A sharing platter of cheese...suitable in size for mice
IMG_0494.JPG

My air dried pasta with 3 fresh lake fish..don't ask what the paint tasted of!
IMG_0496.JPG

Martin couldn't remember what he ordered and I was in the loo but we think it was pasta with black garlic and squid.

All slightly too arty for us, we enjoyed it but it wasn't as good as yesterday. They were also playing Jazz (which makes me violent).

Pictures of Salo to follow..
