I used 3mm board once in my van to match the existing and just stuck it over the top of the existing board, might not be suitable in this case but it saves a lot of destructive work.Does anyone know where I can obtain this kind of material please?.

It's a hell of a lot lighter than plywood. I think it's laminated with foam board. Had some in my last van. It's crazy light and really stiff... And about 3 times the price of quality ply. Most structural ply is 6, 9 or 18mm. So maybe 9 could be used?
These guys sell 10mm Board. https://www.winwood-products.com/eng/timber-products/poplar_plywoods.htm
It is all wood but the inside is balsa or similar and the finish is just a vinyl paper stuck on.It's a hell of a lot lighter than plywood. I think it's laminated with foam board. Had some in my last van. It's crazy light and really stiff... And about 3 times the price of quality ply.
I guess balsa would make sense too. The finish on the stuff I had was pretty thick. It was used for a table top as well as most of the furniture. It certainly wasn't just a foil.It is all wood but the inside is balsa or similar and the finish is just a vinyl paper stuck on.
