I was just quoted that price for a 100 Ah Lithium battery by my German dealer. It would be a replacement for two AGM batteries that come as standard equipment on my MH. From everything I can see this price is way out of line. Am I missing something?

Yes, but you wouldn't miss him if you had a shotgun ...

I though Dick Turpin had retired ....

Depends on what he is quoting for if he is quoting for a Super B battery that's about right.
What’s so different/good about the super B? And why are they more expensive than say a reputable Roamer say?
I mean a 90ah super B Is still 90ah right?

Discharge and charge rates are far higher.

I just received this reply from the dealer when I questioned the price.
The price is including adapting the charging infrastructure. The brand is CS electronic or similar. The normal price is 1.990 € including fixing so I have reduced the price by the replaced batteries.
Looks like it is a LiFePo4 and I see it online for around 1,000. What adaption must be done?

In the words of Ultravox…”it means nothing to me”
I’ll interpret that as you can hammer them flatter quicker with coffee makers, microwaves, hairdryers etc and when you’ve done that, it doesn’t take as long to charge up driving to your next aire (see I didn’t say campsite😁)
It’s that about right🤷‍♂️👍

Your charger and solar controller may not have profiles for charging Lithium. I’d ask what he needs to change or adapt.

By and fit a lifepo yourself. You can get a decent 100amp fro around £500 from a few suppliers. If your van doesn’t have a lithium profle setting use the gel setting. Would also pay to fit a B2B charger at the same time and you will still save £500

Can you use a GEL setting on an older 50a sterling B2B to charge a lithium battery ??

I’m not sure about that. I have a Sterling 60amp B2B which has a lithium profile. My previous motorhome had a 30amp Sterling B2B which also had a lithium profile so I imagine yours is quite old. You could call Sterling as they have some good tech guys.

I’m guessing as the van is a 2016 and probably the b2b was new when installed but I can’t see a lithium profile on it, might have to have another look now:xThumb:

FYI

my Rapido came standard fitment with a pair of Super B LifePo batteries and a RedArc B2B 40a charger, I thought everything was fine until a mate pointed out to me that the charger was not set to the Li profile.

This was corrected by coupling 2 wires together (green/orange) and voila, proper faster charging was resumed immediately and the charging process is much quicker.

Moral of the story is that whilst other charger profiles may charge the batteries, the one with the correct profile should be used 👍

OP just said Lithium so I didn't know what brand or specifics? Don't know what we are comparing

Sorry, thought/assumed you were comparing with the Super B batteries that the preceding half dozen posts were referring to. 👍
