“BUY GERMAN” they said !

You were lucky I had a customer who thought I was at fault (not) and instructed his home insurance solicitors - a phone call from me to 'put them right' stopped that dead... if you start legal action make sure you have a case!
thats a case of having decent solicitors who should tell you if you have a case or not.
Be careful using legal advice form insurance company's normally it is advice only I would advise people to have a dedicated legal insurance.

Now to take up your point Barclay firstly if you stopped action through a phone call the clients solicitors had not done their job in the first place and secondly should have asked for your information by letter or email a decent solicitor will always want a paper trail which phone calls don't give(y)

Just a word of caution - a new unregulated pseudo-profession is emerging. They call themselves "Mackenzie Friends". They are exploiting a loophole, because Judges have allowed a litigant-in-person to be assisted during a Court hearing by an unpaid friend with some legal knowledge.

Having created this loophole the Judges are aware that paid Mackenzie Friends are pushing this too far and now something must be done. It is still under review.

Mackenzie Friends can be more of a problem in reality than a solution to fill a gap. In some cases Mackenzie Friends have a political axe to grind rather than acting in their client's best interests. They include former solicitors who have been struck off for good cause, and should not be doing any kind of legal work at all. Litigation is a statutory "reserved activity". The unqualified and unregulated people doing it for money are also committing a criminal offence. It's a scam.

Which is why I didn't take legal cover when I insured my property yesterday (y)

We have learned in the past to buy second hand or lightly used, we bought out MH that was an ex rental with 17,000 mile on the clock, we had a full habitation check before buying, found out if there was a warranty on it and how long it was for ( No manufacturer warranty as it was used for hire or reward ) but negotiated with the dealer to have a similar warranty at his cost put on the MH ) we looked at it as if it had done 17,000 miles if it has no problems when we bought it, the chances of it leaking in, or some of the appliances not working should have been and gone by the time we bought it.
Some of the past problems we have with our previous MH's and caravans, i think we did the right thing this time.
Now with self leveling, comfort spring front and air suspension on the rear. :)

If We as M H funster members, could give the name of a GOOD MH dealer, for repairs YOU have used, and do use,
then this site could end up with a country wide list of dealers/repairers, that we as a group are happy to recommend to others from our own experiences,
do not mention any of the poor ones, ----just let them realise their footfall is reducing,
because we as a group have put the good'uns on this site, for everyone to know where to go

As some of you are well aware we have had a string of problems with what we believed to be a quality product from a respected manufacturer , sadly this hasn’t been the case with our new Motorhome.
This weekends water leak from the roof as far as we can tell , leaking cassette door and water ingress on drivers sliding window , along with the milk going off in the fridge has tipped the balance.
I have absolutely had enough of it now and hate the sight of the van .
Something that should have been a pleasure has actually made me ill , we are now having an independent report on the van done as I no longer trust the dealers or manufacturers to resolve the outstanding issues.
I am seriously considering direct action and having the vehicle vinyl wrapped and sign written with the faults and parking it near the dealers premises.View attachment 322987

The more I read about new vans, the less I want one.
I feel sorry for you and others who put their hard earned into a crap product and then get bad response from dealers and manufacturers.
I think that Forums like Motorhome Fun could do more to support those with such problems.
I also think that “Clubs” like CCC and CMC should do more, but they rely on the manufacturers for advertising revenue,as does the MMM magazine, whose reviews of motorhomes are pathetic.
However, whilst they are all drinking from the same trough it is unlikely anything will be done.
Probably only Watchdog on the BBC could highlight the problems of Build quality , or lack of it.

Lifes full of risks whatever you do and all the research in world just proves you may know everything about the MH you fancy but does not prevent any thing going wrong. And if Chaser could have found me a new van for 10% of my savings he would have had a friend for life! Get Real!

It’s scandalous; could you get “Which” interested in the problems you are having? It would have to be as a critique of the market as a whole, it’s manufacturing standards and customer care, but the “grey pound” is important and not to be ignored.

We have learned in the past to buy second hand or lightly used.......................

That’s ok as long as you get a good one.

Remember, all these rejected vans will be sold as low mileage and lightly used when the dealers try to sell them on again!

I sold my 3 and a half year old van with no faults or damp as damp had been repaired, and faults corrected, sold to Dealer as I wanted buyer to have some sort of warranty, that does not mean more faults ,damp will come along ,new or secondhand does not make a lot of difference, apart from upgrading, why else do most people sell their vehicle ?
