I am. It's just so annoying to continually see awards go to companies with the largest advertising budget. So I want to develop some awards of our own that we can issue annually.

I need to develop a list of categories that companies might win. Ideas so far.

Some of the more obvious

Best van Converter
Best Manufacturer
Best dealer New
Best Dealer Used
Best Motorhome sales person
The Rudest Saleperson
Best Motorhome after-sales
Most returns for warranty work
Worst PDI ?
Best/Worst Accessory

We also need to draw up some shortlists for vans for us to vote on, things like

Favourite MH under 6m
Favourite Family van
Favourite PVC
Favourite Luxury

If you can suggest some categories, and if anyone can help build the shortlists, please shout up.

Cheers

Nice idea, but how would winners be determined? Voting by MHF members no doubt limited somehow to one vote per member? What happens if there are only a handful of votes for something? Do you limit to those who have bought/used the service in the last year?

Yes, if like me, only approach buying in extremis, (twice in 17 years), I don’t have much contact with dealers.
Servicing vehicle however could be a category but I suspect Adams Morley might win every year.

Longest delivery time for a vehicle.
(Paid Order date to actual final delivery after it's been returned for the third time)

Least number of faults found on a new vehicle.

Most and Least number of lies told by the salesperson

Best after sales Warranty (New vehicles)
Best after sales Warranty (Used vehicles)

Best repairs for the money

Best annual service/MoT (over 3.5t)

Best manufacturer of a Motorhome
expensive, middle and cheap.
(Across the range they supply, ignoring the base vehicle, to find who actually builds the best motorhome for the money.)

A special annual award for the person that bends over backwards to really actually help in a professional capacity.
(Probably comes with a good story: "It was a dark and stormy night....." )

Best two berth motorhome for a nearly retired couple early 60's
Under 6m
Under 7m
Under 8m
Over 8m
New and Used versions.
(This bit might get you the most new subscribers!)

Yes agree, it becomes a sort of echo chamber to say “what a great choice i made” ?

Getting the nominees for each category will be the difficult bit. That will be open voting and the echo chamber could play it's part. But we need to get to a meaningful set of nominees, we can't just foist the nominees on the members.

Then armed with a paragraph or two about why it was chosen, and members can vote, and we should get a fair representation of what are the Funsters favourites.
