St Cyprien

Having achieved what we feel is quite a bit in the first week a couple of days r and r were deemed appropriate whilst waiting for le petit jaune train to be running.
We came off the Pyrenees about an hour and a half to St Cyprien aire. A fully serviced tarmacced spaced credit card entry through barrier.
I decided to press UK on the machine only to be told it was full. Tried again, same response. Tried it in french and it let me in as there is no way it was full. About 1/3 full tops. Only British here !
What we didn't realise was how strong the wind would be. Blown all chances of a beach day.
So the bikes came out and we cycled into the wind to Les bacarels where there really wasn't a lot going on.
We had cycled along the front of cornillon rousselet where the road was closed to traffic for about 4 Kms worth of brocante just stretching out table after table. It was there upon our return so didn't stop as had the quick release panniers on and many bargain hunters.
Return was so much quicker with the wind blowing us back and saw these eco type houses on the etaing.
Lane discipline for pedestrians required my new bell a few times. 54 Kms in the end but 28 were into the wind owing to not noticing signs
It should be noted that you have to cycle out to the main road to cross the rivers, it is not straight up the beach.
We did find the voie verte that runs alongside the canal to Perpignan but we have been there before and don't want to go back.
The voie verte was in very good condition very flat and wide.

Woke up to get some bread. Nearest boulangerie is quite a distance maybe over a kilometre. Artisan. Big queue.
If you head off in a morning NB just before office du tourisme are a few fisherman's direct sales to tourists pop up shops on the right. Between 0800 and 1200 we are told.

Woke up ready for our move on and still intrigued by early morning fish buying straight off the boat.
There were 2 sellers. One had smaller fish and I think they were sardines and other fish that sort of size. Something was 14 euros a kilo.
So a look at the other one and there was something resembling plaice, monkfish and an orange one called chapon (translates as capon) with our name on it.
25 euros and a sharp intake of breath later she was gutting and descaling this thing for us.
It had better be nice. Reckon 2 evening meals worth for 2 of us. (hope so)
