Mont Bessou Correze

We had seen this advertised at TO s but it was a bit out of the way but it was free so went for it.
Coming off the road and driving up the touristic route is fine. It takes you to the top of the mountain so no laboured walking.
In hindsight we should have stopped at the lake and walked through the woods in a path and learnt about mushrooms. That's what we would suggest if you don't mind 500 m up an ok gradient.

When we go to places we like to see if anyone else has some hints and using the search function "bessou" was typed in and DBK is the only one to make record of it so trying to exactly copy his photo was a challenge I accepted (but internet is bad at the moment but improved using wife's phone as a hotspot !) How does that work ?

We climbed the tower which told us we were at 1000m but the mountain is 976m

I then got to play on the 6 year old toys before we went down to the stunning lake. Perfect picnic spot if passing.

We didn't want to go back the way we came so found the gorges d'aveze which is where we had our picnic with no cars seen driving in 33kms but huge logging lorries were noted.

A nice back garden and a helicopter carrying something (guess away if you zoom in) were the other highlights
