Doudeville cycle and st Valery.

Still killing time in the sunny but windy (cold) north we came into the tarmac car park aire of Doudeville. 2 had obviously stayed overnight but we were quickly down to ourselves and the 2 euro water.

Decided that as we only needed drinking water the adjacent Carrefour market was the place to go and it was buzzing in there. Great bargains included 40 bottles of pelforth for less than a tenner, their cheeses were cheaper than we have seen and the fishmonger had a hell of a queue. All noted for when we returned from our cycle.
We had to go a pleasant 9 Kms off cycle routes to get to the Val du lin which was supposed to be a disused railway line. It wasn't. It's a series of back lanes that joins up a couple of disused railway lines. This meant some undulations but nothing major and pretty villages with half imitation half timber properties and some nice duck ponds. Eventually we got to Lunaray via 6 Kms of disused railway from St Pierre le viger. It wasn't worth the effort and with Paula struggling from yesterday's enforced day off I took a hint and found back routes all the way back to Doudeville.
We don't know what's going on today but a penny may have dropped when the Carrefour market closed at 1230. We thought that Luneray was a bit of a dump, and we may be right, but literally nothing was open there. Not even a bar, so we suspect something is going on but the internet wasn't helpful.
Back at the van and still single crewed there were about 10 to 15 teenagers in the adjacent enclosed basketball/handball area but none playing sport so quick decision made to leave and blow the expense we would pay for st Valery en caux. Diversion into the Aire down narrow lanes eventually saw us at the Aire about 1700 and looked pretty full. Then a Frenchman said go left and there is one at the end, so we did and there was. But I could only get in there front end in by driving a 7 point turn to become a sardine being packed in. I may have to reverse out of the whole area tomorrow morning because even with the machine broken meaning free parking, there is absolutely nothing about here that would entice to stay another night or return. Parking under the cliffs is nice but the rest reminds me of Hastings. I don't go much

on Hastings. But each to their own.
