Just up the road from mallerye Sur seine we cycled there via this huge bridge, the point de brettonne.
We weren't too sure if there was a designated cycle route up it but it turned out there was a dedicated tractor and cycle lane both sides.
You can see the dominating bridge from miles away but quite spectacular up close til you see the incline from south to north
We then made Caudebec en caux and very nearly cycled past this huge impressive monument dedicated to some Norwegians who flew the sea landing plane to the ice flow on a rescue mission in 1928.
The place that made the planes was on the opposite bank to the memorial
Into the town itself and large rhinesque boats were moored looking for tourist day trips and we hit market day on a Saturday but quietly disappointed as it was a food market only and 70% of the stores were veg but the church made up for it
We carried on alongside the Seine and found a free alternative to mallerye which we would use if in this neck of the woods again. Villequier and it may have free leccy,
The next part was right up against the Seine forever. Boy was it long ... and boring with no boats and the wind against you and impending rain.
Before eventually coming to the ferry over from Quillebeuf Sur seine after having cycled through a massive oil refinery area
And we got on straightaway and suddenly realised we had done 38kms one way so beer and hotfooting it back for the town party.
Unfortunately we got our first ever puncture whilst out on the bikes.
We have planned for this though (not very well) and out came the spare inner tube, quick release wheel, swapped over in record time, then bleeding useless pump. Luckily we had a spare slightly more useless pump with us, so back to the original one and hey how under way .....
Then we came across a beautiful village of that he'd houses with thatched garages called viuex pont and we'll worthy of a walk and stop at the viewpoint
Before disaster. Another puncture on the same tyre but different position on the tyre.
Puncture repair kit required now.
No water, not near seine, the iced tea identified our area of concern.
We get another 5 KMs down the road and she goes flat again after my expert repair. Pump it up again with the nearly next to useless pump and manage another couple of KMs before one last lot of 20 mins pumping got me about 500 m and at this point Paula decided it would be a long walk home for me. It was only about 4kms and as we were now on back lanes there was an off chance of a lift in a trailer.
No such opportunity came about so I listened to Final Score on the radio.
Got back in time to see one of those big cruisers
