Just booked our 1st trip to France in the Motorhome for September, I was trying to get a Physical Camping Carpark Card & have Downloaded the App which apparently gives me the Digital preference, my question is how do I get a Physical Card as that is what I would prefer, it doesn't seem to have anywhere on there to order & pay for one , thanks for any help Chris.

By the way, this year I’ve given up on booking reason being two of the first sites we booked - first one , on arrival visit the toilets they were literally a s*i*hole with excrement smeared over the walls, both in the male and female, nor was it a recent occurrence. We left within 30 minutes and found another site within 50km that one Dorat was 5*. The cleaning roster was signed off at 0940 that morning. Emailed photos to CCP no response. Another one, hot water never went above 32C throughout the 20hr stay. Still had to pay for the one we left Moulismes.
Are these CCP sites?

Thought I’d be using the camping car parks after arriving in Cherbourg tomorrow. Obviously when I booked my crossing at Christmas it never crossed my mind to check on French bank holidays. I just thought how clever I was being having a very ,very leisurely start to our trip to Iceland before meeting up with the group in Germany. What a plonker! The app shows the ones nearby all full or virtually full not surprisingly.

Obviously I’ve got P4N etc and we’ll find something OK but I thought we could start off in style :giggle:

A friend of mine was in France a couple of months ago. He said both card and code worked well, however, on some occasions the code did not work due to the keyboard not working. He flashed his card and entered.
To me it seems CCP are hell bent on using the app. for the whole operation. By topping up on app. means they save on maintaining the credit card reader. (OK, sensible business decision to save money).
I will still flash my card rather than the palaver of entering a code manually. Why use electro/mechanical means instead of flashing a card?
I am sure most of us are grateful for Contactless cards rather than using a PIN for small amounts.

Having read some people's post's regarding the Digital Card access problems , I have just called CCP & spoken to a French Lady asking if it possible to receive the Physical Card, she explained they do not issue through the Post anymore BUT some machines still have them available so if your Lucky you might receive one on arrival at one of their CCP park ups using your Digital Access 😉 🤞🤞🤞

We've just used the CCP in Sarzeau in Brittany. Departed about an hour ago. Even though we've got a card, I used the app to generate an access code when we arrived and were parked outside the barrier yesterday. Entered the 6 digit number (plus most importantly the Enter button) into the barrier terminal and the barrier opened. Used the same code to access the fresh water stand this morning and then used the same code in the barrier terminal to leave. Easy and efficient.

The access code is displayed in the app during the duration of your stay so you won't forget it!

I wouldn't get too hung up about the card. The app seems to work fine, even over this French bank holiday weekend.

Maybe it's the "Enter" bit that's confusing people?

Yes. Moulismes - s*i.hole, Mandeure - no hot water, bins still overflowing 4 days later, StCroix du Verdon - no power to majority of EHUs , potholes everywhere, grey drain on a slope so most of the grey pooled off the hardstand, grid of black piled with s*i. That’s over the last few weeks.

Thanks for that much appreciated 👍

What is the latest version...mine says 200.2.4
I'm on 200.2.4 as well :-) but not having used it for a few months I find that now it's all in French!
Anyone know where the language selection is please?

I returned from France last week and there are no cards. You get an unique number through the app and thats what you use for every site. And other areas on the site if required i.e. showers, pool etc

Tap on the French Tricolor you'll get the UK flag option and English
It's in your personal information.

Wow, I've yet to find a pool on a CCP aire/site. They must be like gold-dust.

Can you share, please, as their filters only include 'sanitaires' (which generally means an adopted 'Camping de Mon village' site)?

I am currently sitting in our third CCP site. I, too, wanted a physical card. It's easy. Get to a site, ring the number on the white post and then ask for one. The man on the phone will sort it, and there is a card dispenser on the post that spits out a card. We think they are brilliant. Not had any problems with the three we have so far visited.

Card or no card, Camping-Car do everything at the entry points to their sights. In general, we have found it all works well and we like them. There is always a clearly-marked phone number to call at the entry gate and they speak English, so just go for it! Maybe ‘muddle’ the first time, but after that, you’ll be an expert 😀. Am I right in thinking they now have a minimum payment of somethink like 40€ from which they deduct the camping fee? This implies you are paying for almost 3 nights in advance.

You can still use your card if you have one however they are no longer issued to new members as it is all done via the App.

No. The "top-up" screen defaults to 40€, but if you tap the minus button you can set it to as low as 1€.

I normally just top-up enough each time to cover that particular stay.

We’re just back from France and it was our first time using CCP sites. We don’t have a physical card, but arrived at one site where the shower/toilet block would only open with physical card. The digital code let us into the site, but not the showers. After a long broken discussion with French neighbours and a long wait to speak to customer services, we got CCP to issue a card remotely to us from the barrier machine at the front of the site. Glad we got it as the next site in Lunery was the same. The card will be a treasured possession now.

Give customer services a call or a whatsapp and see if they can do the same when you are onsite.

A couple of things to be aware of -

Write down your unique code. If there is no phone signal you'll still be able to get in and out.

Make sure you check and update the app somewhere where there is signal and when you have plenty of time. Don't wait until you're at the gate and the app wants to update.

Last tip, you will get an error message if you try to top up your balance and your card has expired. The error message doesn't make any reference to an expired payment card. Frustrating if you're trying to exit and need to top up your balance, don't ask me how I found out...

You don't. They have stopped issuing physical cards. App only.

Just downloaded the app and created an account. The app is extremely clunky. Took me a while to even select United Kingdom and three attempts to save my personal address details. I Was going to register a debit card but paused. Does it matter which one you use? I have a first direct and a chase one for our up and coming trip as they offer the best rates but my current account is Lloyds which dont.

I Don't think we will use many but will be forced to in some places now and also they could be useful as there are couple of places I have noticed that have cropped up where nothing really existed before. One not far from Monaco for one.

That was exactly the same as I experienced when creating an account "clunky " we have just opened a new Debit account & credit card account for when we go to France so we can load the new credit account with some cash & use that instead of our own personal account.

I don't think you can register a debit card, I tried years ago when applying for my card and had to register with a credit card.
