Not very often .. I use it mostly in markets or fruit stalls. The odd coffee shop etc

Debit or credit card used to purchase almost everything.

Since the pandemic, card payments are accepted in most places, with just the odd small business requiring cash only.

We always carry cash for those occasions, and draw €200 from an ATM which doesn't charge, and then split the cash between us.

I always use my chase card, cash only for some washing machine and dryers, even use it for a €1.50 bear or coffee…

I tend to draw cash from the ATM often, as I prefer to pay in cash. The government already has too much information of my whereabouts (mobile phone), they don't need to know where I have lunch.

I do like the feel of reddies in my hand/pocket, however, in this day and age one simpley has to have a CC and or DC which of course i do.
I have no set reasoning for using cash or cards other than if it's large amount it would be one of the cards.

They do x Ray them and they must get amused at all the rubbish we Europeans drag over there with us. I'm curious how much the x Ray can make out.

I'm genuinely not sure they care.

They often don't employ enough staff to do the things they're meant to do so I doubt they have the staff to monitor everyone's card transactions lol

I use it daily. Bought steel from a stock holders last night .Only way to pay if you do not have an account is cash.

I use the card because of it’s convenience,however, l carry in the back of my phone case about £15/£20 for incidentals like coffee etc but so often l find myself needing it. Not every small business takes a card.

If you have your phone then IF they wanted to know they would know cash or not.

Mike, i didn't say the coffee was a quid.
But now you ask coffee is eqiv £1 in Satwa, off December 2nd Street AND i wouldn't use a card, i would give them Dhs 5 (in cash) and say keep the change
Hoped you wiped your feet when you left that Costa place. Orrible places.

I try to seek out independents but they are getting harder to find.
