Anyone still going away for New Year ?

Absolutely no way.
53,000 infections announced today - double those of a week ago.
Two nurses, exhausted and distraught from saving strangers' lives interviewed just now on Radio 4's PM.
Hospitals at breaking point with full wards.
Head of NHS admits that we're heading for a catastrophe following the Christmas mingling.
The police admit there's no way they can control New Year gatherings.
How could you?

Going nowhere (except back to work on 4th) been nowhere, dad just out of hospital from his umpteenth stroke (seen him 4 times since February twice through the window twice stuck my head through front door) been shopping once (Mrs Westy does all the shopping bless her) all I’m doing apart from work is staying with my immediate family at home. Worked all year, not furloughed!!
I’ve been reading about hospitals today at stretching point ambulances lined up outside most London hospitals, BUT not a PEEP anywhere about any nightingale hospitals taking patients!!
So be careful out there, do your bit and hopefully we’ll all get away sometime next year🤞🏻

I've just SORN'd my motorhome today as I can't see it being used for at least 2 or 3 months and we are in a T4 area. This virus will I think be around for a long, long time much the same as the 'flu virus. Vaccination and common sense may be ways of limiting it's transmission.
The Govt is trying to keep people safe and the economy going at the same time but there are some seriously stupid and irresponsible people around who don't seem to get how dangerous this virus is. BTW I'm not getting at anyone on this thread.
I contracted it in Sept and my immune system managed to fight it for nearly 2 weeks then it went in to overdrive and I ended up in hospital with blood clots on my lungs. It has taken me about 2 months to get over it and I was quite fit before it struck.
Don't take any chances and endanger yourself or others.

If the site is open does that ensure it's safe? Our local guidnace is Level 4 and we have been asked to go above and beyond if at all possible. As 'Nasher' has said, just because you can doesn't mean you have to.

We were given 6 hrs notice of our lockdown before Xmas, so don’t bank on it.😳
How does that work if some of the people staying have had an alcoholic drink ? Just leave anyway and be forced to drink and drive ?

Still planning to go away if the site is open . New tier announcement can’t be instant and normally get a few days notice .

19th Dec we were tier 2
20th Tier 3 🤔 < we had 3or4 days warning for this.
21st Tier 4 🤪 < just the evening before.

On the next planned check (30th?) we’ll stay tier 4. Too many covidiots 👀 problem still too big

No, not on a site. We live in northwales, and on sat evening on 19th, we were going to York for Xmas on 20th, we were told level 4, everything to close except essential shops and no going out of the area. It was about 6 in evening and said to take effect from midnight that night. Not a happy bunny I can tell you, I’d not done any Xmas shopping and treat ourselves to m and s Xmas lunch, usually York. They have some really nice stuff. Had to go to local one, due to clientele they don’t do what we’d like for our special day so had to have turkey! Not a happy bunny at all.

Should get at least one night away then 👍🏻

All because you can doesn’t mean you should so no, we are staying put. We are in a Tier 2 area but 7 day case rates for Dorset 120 per 100,00 up from 46 on 18th Dec, and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are 218 up from 86. We haven’t even seen the effects of Christmas yet. I will just go and bash my head against a brick wall for a bit.
