We used a 50km section of the A3 in Romania today - from the Transylvania region south to the only campsite near Bucharest - Casa Alba. (About 10km from the city centre).
The A3 is a major project started in 2012, the road surface is up to the standard we’re more familiar with, but be aware that although their are lots of signs for Service area’s - they’re not actually built yet, just levelled off patches of ground.
Also, there are signs indicating distances to SOS phones, but there aren’t any phones..
Not a major problem, just have enough fuel before you get on the A3.
