Just looking at booking some sites through ACSI. Will 6amps be enough on a pitch in June?

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
Probably but it depends upon what mains powered devices you will be using (the one's you'll have on or that you will switch on at the same time).

Provided that you don’t load it with more than 1.5kW, it’s enough.

Do what Fragle says. Know the wattage of all your devices and make sure you don't exceed 1300 watts.
Most sites have accessible MCB's now, so if you are unlucky you will probably be able to reset the breaker.

Most campingcarpark aires I've used don't have user resettable trip switches. You have to call them and they engage a local electrician to come and reset it. The boxes are locked.

Check the power requirement of each appliance, don’t forget the water heater etc.

Remember

Amps = Watts divided by volts

A rough calculation will give you a guide.

2000W kettle divide by 250Volts, (near enough approximation to keep maths simple) = 8 amps

1000W kettle or water heater / 250 volts = 4 amps

We carry a low wattage kettle and normally use CCP Aires which have 6amp supply. Pull up, boil kettle, when it switches off switch on water heater etc keeping the combined load below 6amps.

Our motorhome has the facility to limit the total load in order to avoid tripping the site supply by setting the limit on the control panel.

Getting better
Watch your domestic water heater, I forgot mine was on in the background and we popped the 6amp breaker, had to report to the office and receive a reprimand in French as to the profligate habits of British holiday makers not understanding the value of French electricity, or I think that is what he said as he walked to our pitch to reset the breaker for the second time.! Lesson learnt..until the next time ....

When we first started out ( as tuggers) I instilled in Mrs Poppycamper the need to always but always turn everything off ( even if on 16A ). Before firing up her hair dryer..
She never understood if we on 6/10 or 16 A. So got in habit of turning everything off regardless..👍👍👍

Find 6amp fine to run fridge, heat water on EL1 power mode, charge batteries and use a 1000w kettle, even a USB to charge phones in the van. Anything else above that can cause trips.

Ditch the wifes electric hair dryer and aircon when the low wattage kettle is on. Set your electric water heating to 1kw but turn it off when boiling kettle or want aircon.

If you invest in something like this you could perhaps put in line with you hook up cable and make a note of each item you will use before you set off. Eg fridge, water heater, hot plate etc.

As said above avoid anything that heats or has a large electric motor. So kettles and toasters are generally out. (Most domestic kettles are 2.8 or 3KW so will draw 12-13 amps) Use a gas kettle. (we don't even carry an electric one now.) as mentioned hair driers, tongs, irons, fan heaters, even domestic vacuum cleaners etc should all be left at home, albeit the fairer sex may object to the former. Loads of threads on here about this issue. To repeat the key message, there is no such thing as a 12v hair drier! Towels, wind and sunshine come power free.

Remember you are camping with 6A available, not at home with perhaps 80 or 100A available.

The reason the French get ratty is because, even at home, they have restrictions on power consumption. It is common to have a 12kw limit on your supply. We have 18kw because we use storage heaters but our standing charges are higher because of that. My electrician gawked when I described a UK ringmain circuit!

Not strictly true... Have tripped out the one in Luneville and was able to reset the trip.

Lots but slow learner.
On a site now that we have paid a bit extra to get 16amps as we need the stand alone heater, the van heater, the micro wave, the electric kettle and electric hob for cooking. The trip in the box is accessible should it trip :giggle: (y)
