Hi, just wondering if anyone has done this. I'm building a camper for export from UK (to save the VAT). Proposing to ship to Canada to start a long trip through the Americas. At some point we'll need to leave the camper in either US or Canada for possibly 6 months before carrying on.

Has anyone looked into this and knows whether or not it's possible? TIA

So you are paying a big lump of money for shipping and another lump of money for storage to save a small lump of money on vat, that’s apart from sorting out any insurance.
Have you done the maths?

Wow. Well actually it's quite a large lump of VAT @ 20 % of total cost. And I plan to be away for a couple of years at least. So hiring would be out of the question, and buying without a Canadian or US address quite difficult I think.
