I can’t (and daren’t) imagine how or why they would use that cow hoist.
It looks like a medieval instrument of torture.

It looks like a medieval instrument of torture.
It was used to maintain the hooves of cattle, they have hi tec hydraulic lifts now that can lift and turn animals onto their sides but below is a more modern version of the one in the photograph.
