This reminds me of an incident a few years back, a neighbour had his lawn relaid with top grade turf and was obviously so very proud of the results, he kept boring his family with the details of it.
His son in law, on the eve of April 1st and in the dead of night 'created' several molehills on the lawn and the result was very convincing, in the morning when the neighbour saw his lawn he went berserk, it took a lot of effort from the Son in law to a) stop him digging up his lawn, and b) get back in his father in laws good books.

Only one molehill! We gave up in the end and took the lawn up to make a potager......and that was after we re-turfed twice The dogs dug holes trying to find the moles
