Cunning plan today was to got Gunzenhausen at a free aire and spend a couple of days exploring the 2 lakes either side.
So we left Rothsee and travelled the short distance, but we needed food diesel adblue and beer.
We set lidls Gunzenhausen into the satnav and only a little hiccup with an umleitung but saw a Kaufland opposite so parked in lidls and walked over and lovely display of anti pasta type stuff as you walked in but no spiral burning things to get rid of mozzies which we suffered with last night so a tin of kill them was purchased
Back to lidls but no beer purchased as looking for a gertranke but we have 6 bottles left (plus pastis wine and whiskey) so not desperate yet.
Made our way to the free aire and there were a shed load of caravans with unmarked transits in front of them.
Fearing one of them might prefer my engine to theirs we didn't stay and chose the Aire with a panoramic view for 12 euros a night
But they have since cut the hedge
So we had lunch and set off clockwise round the lake allegedly 13 Kms ( we cycled 38)
The cycle path is separated from the walking path. There are numerous beer gardens. There are beaches everywhere, everything. This is a top lake. Views all the way round, pathway covered in shade, yachts, windsurfers, wake boarders, ferries, museums, water walks, exercise machines, more Aires than appear on any app. All seem to be 12 euros. Plus things to do tomorrow.
We popped into Pleindorf for a view
Having worked so hard on a quite flat stage beer and cake for Paula was required as she had a slow puncture which got fixed upon return.
Not content with one we had spotted this other bar in the way out which needed further investigation after the wakeboarders
Trying to work out how we do something tomorrow in order to stay another day.
It should be noted there are several Aires about and the climb to this one is short and sharp, however tomorrow s edition may show you something or 2 things next the Aire that make it worthy of consideration. Other Aires are up against the lake and may suit you better
